The COD4COD Co-Chairs Thank You for Your Support.

Each spring the College of DuPage Foundation runs the COD4COD Employee Giving Campaign to raise funds to increase access to education and to enhance cultural opportunities for the residents of District 502 and beyond.

COD4COD is just one of many avenues that works to fulfill our mission on a regular basis. With the support of faculty, staff, corporate and community partners as well as the community at large, last year the Foundation:

• Awarded $1,588,693 in programmatic support, equipment, supplies and other educational tools to the College • Awarded $393,152 in Scholarships and Awards • Awarded more than $125,889 to support faculty and staff innovation projects through the Resource for Excellence Grant program

Since its inception, COD4COD has raised more than $105,000 to support student scholarships and academic programs along with helping students like Felipe Arias, a COD scholarship recipient in the Engineering Pathways Program:

Kleemann Scholarship, the Naperville Rotary Charities and the Rotary Club of Naperville Scholarship, you will make my academic experience affordable and less stressful. Resource for Excellence Helps Increase Students’ Global Competency For the past two years, the COD Study Abroad program has been a Resource for Excellence grant recipient—allowing the program to expand scholarship funding and increasing the global competency of COD students.

Thanks to the Resource for Excellence grant, COD students have studied Spanish in Costa Rica, culinary arts in France, political science in Cuba and more! In fact, the Institute of International Education recently named College of DuPage No. 1 for total number of study abroad students across all community colleges in the nation!

What are Resource for Excellence Grants?

Resource for Excellence is an internal grant program designed to foster innovation by providing seed money to test new ideas, pilot new programs or services, or conduct research.

The Foundation recognizes that given the resources, all COD employees have the capacity to contribute to the improvement of instruction and support given to the students and community we serve. Learn more at foundation.cod.edu.

Scholarships Offset Cost of Books While she was in high school, Asia Sandridge participated in ACT-SO (Afro-Academic, Cultural, Technological and Scientific Olympics), a program for students who want to excel at a collegiate level.

“I competed in biochemistry and placed silver,” she said.

What is COD4COD?

When it came time for college, Asia chose College of DuPage for a variety of reasons.

It is the College’s Employee Giving Campaign that allows you to give to the area of COD that you are most passionate about. There are more than 200 different scholarship options and programs for you to choose from and if you cannot find one that suits you, there is a way to create your own!

Employee donations can be made any time of year through COD4COD, and we encourage gifts during the campaign from March 7 to April 15, 2016. Visit foundation.cod.edu/cod4cod.

“I wanted to get my gen eds out of the way,” she said. “But COD is helping me get out of my comfort zone, and it’s also helping me get a feel for my major.”

Asia also received the Textbook Scholarship through the College of DuPage Foundation. The funds are helping her offset the cost of books.

Her ultimate goal is to earn a Ph.D. and become a plastic surgeon. She’s thankful that College of DuPage is providing her with a solid start.

“My advice for incoming students is to definitely get involved and take advantage of every single opportunity presented to you,” she said. “Go for everything, don’t hesitate to succeed but have fun doing it. COD is a great school because they actually help you succeed if you want it.”
