Taking Our Discipleship Temperature

Important news from the Discipleship Committee

College Church is committed to equipping individuals to be disciples—growing in their intimacy with Jesus and obedience to his commands, and to make disciples—encouraging and supporting others as they seek to grow in Christlikeness. Whether the venue is corporate worship, classes, small groups or one-on-one mentoring, we want the ministries of our church to facilitate both personal discipleship and shared disciplemaking. In either case, the goal is the same: to see people grow in conformity to the image of Christ for his glory. In order to foster our growth in both areas, the Discipleship Committee determined that we first needed to take and understand the current “discipleship temperature” of College Church. We wanted to see what people are already doing in their personal discipleship practices and in their life-on-life discipleship with others. By now, most of you should have received a “Discipleship Survey” in your inbox. The survey is intended to help our committee as we seek to make plans regarding the future of discipleship ministries in our congregation. This survey will enable us to discern areas of strength and areas of need. It will also allow us to propose classes, programs and ministries that will fuel our passion for discipleship for years to come. Here’s where you come in. First, complete the survey. It is anonymous and should take no longer than 10 minutes. We truly appreciate you taking the time to help us take the current discipleship “pulse” of our congregation. Second, pray. Pray for the committee as we interpret the results and then make plans for the future of discipleship ministries at College Church. Third, rekindle your own passion for discipleship and disciplemaking. We hope that this will become the ruling desire of all our lives, both individually and corporately. We are so thankful for your participation in this important survey. Keep an eye out in the coming months as the Discipleship Committee decides how to best communicate the results to the congregation.
