The Curated Collection design concept is a fusion of the past and present, transforming the design plan into a personalized modern dwelling that is expressive of the Adkins aesthetic. The first floor was entirely reconfigured to meet the Adkins needs while increasing storage throughout. Embracing the original architectural details of the home, original wood flooring, crown molding and a marble fireplace were restored to new life.

Kris and Valerie Adkins’ 1888 Brownstone in the Gold Coast of Chicago offers a unique ability to revive new life into this historic home.

Clean lines and luxurious textures enhance the layered composition. Velvet and bouclé upholstery add softness and depth, while brass and marble accents provide continuity with architectural finishes. Sculptural seating and curated accent tables suggest pieces acquired over time to lend a collected and intentional feel to the home. The result is a furnishing plan that feels personal, elevated, and enduring—expressing contemporary comfort within a revived historic context.

A layered lighting strategy was developed to evenly disperse illumination throughout the first floor. Ambient, task, and accent lighting sources are intentionally distributed across each space to reduce contrast, minimize glare, and create balanced visual comfort.

colsant residence The Colsant Residence is a three story residence created in Chief Architect. A complete set of residential construction documents were developed including a plot plan, floor plans for electrical and furniture, interior and exterior elevations, and 3D renderings of the structure. The kitchen design was executed in accordance with NKBA planning standards, reinforcing industry-recognized guidelines for functional residential spaces. Through the creation of a fully coordinated digital model, the project demonstrates competency in spatial organization and technical drafting within a BIM environment.
