Promote Support and Advocate The Central Business District (CBD) is that part of the city which contains the principal commercial streets and main public buildings. The purpose of the CBD is to provide a centralised and condensed space for businesses to operate. A CBD can also be home to retail stores, restaurants, and other forms of entertainment. With time, CBDs have evolved to include industrial, residential, commercial, administration, and consumption destinations.

What is the purpose of today’s message? It is of the utmost importance for us to be mindful of our duty and responsibility to support businesses within our local CBDs and to build a stronger community. We can take inspiration from Midtown Manhattan, NYC to work together ensuring that our local CBDs remain as vibrant and dynamic as they have. Remember that you can promote, support and advocate for your local CBDs to become an ideal destination. It will bring people together and create a fantastic experience for all. We’re counting on you! GRAND OPENING EXTRAVAGANZA
The weather may have been cold and dreary, but the energy within ANATE’s Grand Opening last Thursday on the 26th of October was positively electrifying. Greeted by a stunning floral and balloon display, over 80 guests joined CEO Sophie Najjarin in celebrating ANATE’s new headquarters in Stanley Street, the heart of Bankstown, just around the corner from Bankstown Sports Club. As guests toured the new ANATE office and nursing simulation lab, it is clear just how dedicated ANATE is in their mission to use innovative practical education to empower individuals to gain employment as skilled workers.
Prepare for the Future with Innovative Practical Education ANATE aims to train participants with both the industry-specific skills and interpersonal skills they need to succeed. Specialising in business, healthcare, building construction, and trades, ANATE takes a holistic approach to personal development and vocational training. Canterbury-Bankstown’s Mayor, Bilal ElHayek, and CBCC’s CEO, Wally Mehanna, were in attendance, giving a speech to the attendees and joining Sophie in the ribbon cutting ceremony.
Their unwavering commitment to education is exemplified by the exceptional quality and attention to detail in their courses and training centres. Operations Manager, Angelyn Taruc, has ensured that every aspect, from the layout and mannequins to equipment, accessible facilities, and even cleaning chemicals' scent in the Bankstown nursing simulation lab, is meticulously designed to provide participants with an authentic training experience.
Sophie is very grateful for the support of everyone who came out to ANATE’s grand opening and for supporting ANATE’s work. She gives special thanks to NSW Health and Peter Rophail, General Manager of Bankstown-Lidcombe Hospital, for their ongoing support for her and ANATE’s work. Growing Football Fund to Empower Female Players and Coaches
The Growing Football Fund, launched in partnership with Football Australia and Commonwealth Bank, is set to attract and retain 50,000 female participants in football over the next two years. This initiative includes community grants for clubs, state-based coaching networks, scholarships for coaches, and resources for women's and girls' football development. The focus is on creating a more inclusive and supportive sporting landscape, empowering future players and coaches. Grant applications open on November 8, 2023, and further details are available at Football Australia. CBCC proudly supports initiatives aimed at fostering the inclusion and participation of women in sports.

Business Bureau launched at Service NSW Thursday, 26 October 2023 Editor’s note: Video available at: vimeo.com/876246560/da7aabb067 The Minns Government has today bolstered its plan to support businesses in NSW with the launch of the Service NSW Business Bureau, a leading initiative dedicated to breaking down the barriers to make doing business easier. The Service NSW Business Bureau will give small business owners a seat at the table with a commitment to tackling unproductive red tape, helping businesses navigate government and boosting growth opportunities. The Service NSW Business Bureau will make it even easier for businesses to connect with specialised support, with a major upgrade to the Service NSW Business Bureau App. The app will provide businesses with support and a new range of features, including: • Tracking and saving licences associated to their business and employees in one place, • Booking expert advisors based on their unique business needs, • Viewing voucher payment summaries, transaction reports and bank details All with just a few taps. No matter the stage of their business journey, the Service NSW Business Bureau connects businesses with free, personalised support to understand and access government programs to grow their business, alongside digital tools to manage transactions and licences. From guidance on government regulations, processes and programs, to one-on-one advice on topics such as business planning, marketing and cash flow, the Service NSW Business Bureau will connect businesses with the support they need. The NSW Government has begun working on the development of a Charter for Small Business which will provide a framework for engaging with and supporting small businesses. The Service NSW Business Bureau will be responsible for oversight of the Charter for Small Business, as well as the provision of advice and recommendations on further actions to support small businesses.
