As I engage with business owners, professionals, investors and community leaders throughout Canterbury-Bankstown and the broader Sydney South West region, one message is becoming increasingly clear: business confidence remains cautious despite the resilience and determination of our business community.

The recent Federal Budget has introduced measures aimed at addressing cost-of-living pressures and supporting households. However, many businesses across our region continue to face significant challenges, including rising operating costs, workforce shortages, increasing compliance obligations and ongoing economic uncertainty.

Sydney South West is one of Australia’s most dynamic and diverse economic regions. It is home to thousands of small and medium-sized enterprises that drive innovation, create employment opportunities and contribute significantly to the national economy. These businesses are not only the backbone of our local communities; they are critical to Australia’s future prosperity.

What we continue to hear from our members is a desire for greater certainty and a stronger focus on long-term economic growth. Businesses need an environment that encourages investment, supports entrepreneurship, improves productivity and rewards those willing to take risks and create opportunities for others.

Equally important is ensuring that future generations continue to believe in the Australian dream. Whether it is owning a home, starting a business, pursuing a career or building financial security, aspiration remains a cornerstone of Australia’s success and social fabric.

As major infrastructure projects, urban renewal initiatives and private-sector investment continue to reshape Sydney South West, the opportunities before us are significant. To fully realise this potential, we must ensure that policy settings at all levels of government support business growth, workforce development and sustainable economic expansion.

Australia’s Oldest Living Legends Honoured with Guinness World Records Title.

Aged and disability care provider My Guardian broke a Guinness World Records title for the largest gathering of centenarians at NSW Parliament House last year, uniting 150 of the nation’s oldest citizens in a powerful celebration of life and resilience.

More than a record, the event was a salute to a generation, including war veterans, Holocaust survivors, and pioneering migrants, who built modern Australia.

My Guardian Partners with the Ingham Institute My Guardian and the Ingham Institute for Applied Medical Research announce a strategic partnership to bring cuttingedge medical innovation directly to multicultural and vulnerable communities across New South Wales.

The collaboration marks a significant shift in communitybased care, merging the Ingham Institute’s clinical research with My Guardian’s frontline expertise in disability support.

Carols by Candlelight 2026 Carols by Candlelight will be staged at Playford Park PadstowonSunday, 13 December 2026.

Once again local groups and performers will be providing entertainment. More than 5,000 people are expected to pack in for an unforgettable night of celebration, with huge energy, dazzling entertainment and a breathtaking fireworks spectacular set to light up the sky.

This year we have slightly altered our sponsorship packages to allow full payment by 30 September 2026 should that arrangement be more in tune with your budget or cash flow considerations.

I am writing to invite you to be part of a significant and deeply meaningful event in the history of the NSW Police family.

In April 2027, we will mark 30 years since the tragic death of Constable David CARTY, who was killed while serving the community of Fairfield on 18 April 1997.

To honour his memory, and to stand with the many police families who have suffered loss, members of the Fairfield Police Area Command will undertake a 338km charity walk from Parkes, Constable CARTY’s hometown, to Fairfield Police Station.

Over 8 days, a group of serving officers will retrace the symbolic journey from David’s home to his station, concluding in a commemorative ceremony on Monday, 19 April 2027, at the Fairfield RSL Club. His family still resides in Parkes, and this walk is both a tribute to David’s life and a reminder of the sacrifices made by police officers and their families every day.

This anniversary is expected to draw significant local and national media interest.

NSW Police Media will be supporting promotion of the event, providing meaningful exposure for our sponsors and an opportunity for the community to walk beside us in remembrance, unity, and camaraderie.

We are inviting your organisation to partner with us as an official sponsor of this important initiative. Your support will help raise funds for NSW Police Legacy, a charity dedicated to caring for the families of police officers who have passed away— families like Constable CARTY’s.
