ENERGY RESILIENCE In the quest for a resilient and sustainable energy future, diversifying our energy supply is paramount. This approach not only helps in navigating the challenges posed by resource depletion, price volatility, and geopolitical tensions but also in enhancing our energy security. It allows us to adapt more fluidly to market changes while fostering an environment of sustainability.

Renewable energy sources offer considerable benefits in terms of reducing our carbon footprint and promoting environmental stewardship. However, the path to a fully renewable energy grid is fraught with challenges, including issues of intermittency, storage capacities, and the geographical dependencies of certain renewable sources. Furthermore, the lifecycle of renewable energy technologies—from production to disposal—brings its own environmental considerations..

In this light, a more balanced approach to our energy mix becomes not just prudent but necessary. By integrating both renewable and conventional energy sources, we can offset the limitations inherent in each. Nuclear power, with its capability for high-output and consistent electricity generation, emerges as a compelling component of this balanced energy strategy. It stands out for its low greenhouse gas emissions and the ability to provide a stable energy supply, crucial for meeting our continuous demand for electricity The role of government in shaping a balanced and sustainable energy future cannot be overstated. Through clear policies and incentives, governments have the power to encourage a diverse energy portfolio that includes renewable sources, nuclear energy, natural gas, and others. Investments in energy infrastructure are essential for creating a stable, affordable, and forward-looking energy landscape. Such policies ensure that electricity remains accessible and affordable, catering to the needs of both commercial enterprises and residential consumers alike.

By advocating for a balanced energy strategy that includes nuclear power alongside renewable sources, we can address the environmental concerns of today while ensuring the energy security and sustainability of tomorrow. This approach acknowledges the complexities of the energy landscape and the necessity of an inclusive strategy that leverages the strengths of various energy sources for a greener, more resilient future.

The everlasting Legacy!

In the heart of our community, there stood a giant among men, not in stature alone, but in the immense positive impact he left behind.

In his legacy, we find inspiration, a testament to the profound difference one person can make in the lives of many. Though he may no longer walk among us, his influence echoes in the countless lives he touched, reminding us that true greatness lies in the service of others.

Mr Lang Walker AO was distinguished across the Australian property sector, with a career spanning over 50 years, simply a great man and a true nationbuilder.

Mr. Lang Walker's legacy extends beyond bricks and mortar; it's a testament to his foresight, leadership, and unwavering commitment to community development. His legacy is embodied in the thriving spaces he created and the positive impact on both local economies and the lives of those who inhabit his transformative projects.

His developments included high-rise office buildings in Sydney, Melbourne and Adelaide, to suburban housing estates including in Sydney's outer west.

Indeed, Lang Walker's contribution to the development of a $340 million university in the City of Bankstown is a significant achievement. His commitment to education infrastructure demonstrates a broader vision for community growth and progress, leaving a lasting impact on the region's educational landscape.

Mr Walker has died aged 78.

On behalf of the Board and Members Canterbury Bankstown Chamber of Commerce.

May his soul rest in eternal peace.

And when it comes to women in leadership positions, decades of studies have shown that when more women are empowered to lead, everyone benefits.

Women leaders help increase productivity, enhance collaboration, inspire organisational dedication, and improve fairness.

Despite these benefits, in 2023, only 10.4% of Fortune 500 companies are led by women. What can we do to begin paving the way for more women to rise to leadership positions for a more equal business world?

It starts with advocacy.

JOIN THE MOVEMENT THAT IS BRAVE!!!

CBCC Brave unleashes potential for a pawsome 2024 at The RSPCA education Centre in Yagoona.

Finance serves as the backbone of entrepreneurship, enabling visionaries to transform innovative ideas into tangible businesses. It is crucial for several reasons. First, it provides the essential capital required to start and grow a business, from funding initial setup costs to expanding operations. Adequate financing allows entrepreneurs to invest in the necessary resources, such as technology, talent, and marketing, to build competitive and sustainable businesses.

In the first event of 2024, Brave was launched and focused on CALD women returning to work, with selfemployment on the mind.

We had 70 registrations people attended the event.

As amentoring program, there was an overwhelming desire to network with likeminded people, and to explore self employment.

The major driving force behind the desire to be selfemployed was financial indpendence, flexible working hours and a passion for a specific area or idea. .

CBCC Brave sets the pace with a bark and bite in 2024.

Storytelling unravelled a darker secret of active discrimination and a lack of suitable employment opportunities for women of colour, particularly from Arab backgrounds. On the upside, there was clear optimism about doing business in a place like Canterbury Bankstown where Women working

with other women feels comfortable.

Our attendees enjoyed the venue and spread put on by Peter and the RSPCA and will be returning every quarter to deliver more educational workshops.

The call for women to be brave and resilient often stems from the historical and ongoing challenges they face in a variety of contexts, including societal, professional, and personal spheres. These challenges can include gender discrimination, unequal opportunities, underrepresentation in leadership roles, and societal expectations that impose limitations on women's choices and freedoms. The need for bravery and resilience is highlighted as a means to navigate and overcome these obstacles, advocating for personal strength and perseverance in the face of adversity

Our project is designed to foster a transformative journey for culturally and linguistically diverse women in South West Sydney, setting a foundation for both short-term and mediumterm achievements that collectively nurture empowerment, community integration, and personal development. Initially, we aim to elevate participants' self-esteem and sense of agency, enhancing their engagement with social services and legal rights awareness. We're committed to creating supportive networks that offer shared experiences and mutual support, fostering a stronger community belonging.

Highlights Farah wishes she joined the CBCC sooner. She is grateful for the support, friendships and opportunities to hone her craft, mentor others and grow her business in a community dedicated to be more inclusive.

Renee tells us stories of adversity, resilience and passion for her work and family and makes no excuses for wanting it all.

CBCC Brave is being shared word of mouth throughout the community, and we welcome several newcomers who are excited to see what is next for tem.

STEAM Stars on Global Stage A STEAM initiative at Bankstown Girls High School, the girls were provided time during their robotics periods to familiarise themselves with ARTEC robotic parts and coding. The real challenge was about to come. Yin Yin La, Kimmy Tran and Yelleina Alabaso were ecstatic when they learnt they had the opportunity to compete in Japan. With three months to prepare, the girls sacrificed their school holidays working together. There were days when everything went smoothly, and it became apparent when their robot and coding didn’t go as planned.

The students grew as individuals whilst navigating their creativity and managing each other’s expectations.

They demonstrated resourcefulness and perseverance as each challenge presented itself. The picture here also shows their dedication. Before the competition, in Japan, they had found a discrete space outside the offices of the venue and were perfecting their code. Our girls knew that the competition was going to be fierce and wanted to give themselves the best opportunity to compete against world leaders in technology.

Kimmy TranRobotics has been a great experience in both the learning and enjoyment aspects. It has taught me to persist through struggles, no matter how many times I may fail or how many problems may arise, and to not be afraid to seek help or assistance from others when needed. Despite the numerous struggles I encountered in robotics, it has been a lot of fun and a valuable experience that I would do again in a heartbeat.

Yin Yin La Robotics has provided me with a useful learning experience, allowing me to achieve better problem-solving skills in a collaborative environment. I have learned how to navigate different issues and find solutions to problems, and how to support and assist my teammates when we need help.

The picture here shows three courageous females from the team Y2K. It is a collaboration of their initials and a nod to the challenges of modern technology. A team name representative of the girls’ journey.

Yelleina AlabasoRobotics has been one of the most unexpected things that has ever entered my life. If you had told past me about my achievements in robotics, I would've laughed and batted an eye.

But this unforeseen experience has truly expanded the way I view challenges. I used to be scared and afraid to even try, as my mindset was, "You can't fail if you didn't participate." But this journey has taught me the power of trying; the power of determination, and the ability to extend your comfort zone. I'm grateful that the past me had the courage to try because now I am able to try everything I'm interested in without fear.
