Trilogy Foundation Canterbury Bankstown would like to thank the Canterbury Bankstown Chamber of Commerce for offering to support children and families via their gift appeal in conjunction with the Entertainment Park.

The Trilogy Foundation is committed to supporting children with special needs who live or attend school in the in the Canterbury Bankstown LGA and have intellectual disabilities.

The recipients of your gifts will be local children with moderate - severe intellectual and physical disabilities and also their siblings. It has been particularly difficult for these children and their families in lockdown and so we are delighted to be able to work with our local business community to give them a little well-deserved joy at this special time of year!

Gifts can be placed under the giving tree at the ENTERTAINMENT PARK at 20/361 Milperra Road, Bankstown Aerodrome. If any gifts need to be picked up or businesses have any queries, they are welcome to contact the Trilogy Foundation directly via phone or email.

New name, same commitment Navitas Skilled Futures - we do so much more than teach English!

We are writing to announce some exciting news about Navitas English. From 1 December 2021, we will be officially known as Navitas Skilled Futures.

The name change is part of a wider review designed to better reflect the scope of our programs, the focus of our work, and its positive impact on the clients, stakeholders and the communities we serve.

Since Navitas English began delivering the Adult Migrant English Program (AMEP) on behalf of the Australian Government in 1998, we have grown to deliver a range of diverse programs, including the Skills for Education and Employment (SEE), Career Transition Assistance (CTA) and Foundation Skills for Your Future (FSfYF) programs.

As we continue to embrace new opportunities and adapt to meet changing settlement, education and employment needs and goals of clients, we have changed our name to one that better reflects what we do now and will move with us into the future.

The name change will include new signage and marketing collateral with a contemporary style, as well as an updated website and domain: navitas-skilledfutures.com.au.

But while our name will change from December 1, our commitment to all programs, partners, clients and stakeholders will remain as strong as ever.

We are producing new Navitas Skilled Futures marketing material to share with you, to replace those with the Navitas English logo. You can continue to contact us using the same emails, phone numbers and addresses as before.

Bankstown Central redevelopment set to begin with The Grand Market and

more car parks Bankstown Central will soon commence the first stage of redevelopment works, to deliver a new vibrant and modern fresh food precinct, and an additional 190 car parking spaces.

Located on the ground level, the new fresh food precinct, The Grand Market, will boast a contemporary look and feel, and a reconfiguration of retail stores and kiosks to create an open and spacious environment to welcome the local community.

The Grand Market will offer a brand-new Coles supermarket, in addition to a broad selection of artisan specialty food retailers offering a variety of ingredients from across the world.

Centre Manager Anthony Wilson said, “We are excited to be creating The Grand Market and welcoming Coles to the centre. Our new fresh food precinct is all about giving customers more convenience, choice and variety with fresh produce and specialty ingredients all under one roof.”

Customers will also benefit from a new 190 space car park with direct travelator access into the centre. To make way for the car park, work will commence next month on the relocation of the bus interchange to The Mall and Jacob Street, adjacent to Target.

The new bus interchange is expected to open in May 2022, and we are working closely with the bus operators to ensure there is a seamless transition. We will also be installing new signage and have people on site to help direct customers to the area.

“Our vision to transform the heart of Bankstown’s town centre into a mixed-use community starts with Bankstown Central and we are excited to begin the first phase of the centre upgrades that will provide an easy, convenient and pleasurable shopping experience for our community,” Mr Wilson said.

The redevelopment of Bankstown Central’s fresh food precinct is the first stage of Vicinity’s strategy to transform Bankstown Central into a mixed-use precinct of the future, following plans submitted to council paving the way to create a Smart Jobs, Health and Innovation precinct of the future.

Small commercial landlords can now apply for hardship grants Hello Small commercial landlords can now apply to the Commercial Landlord Hardship Fund for grants of up to $3000 per month to help offset the cost of providing rental relief to tenants during the COVID-19 lockdown in NSW. The NSW Government invites grant applications from eligible small landlords with up to $5 million in total land holdings (excluding a principal place of residence) who have experienced financial hardship from providing rental relief to retail or commercial tenants.

To be eligible, applicants must be the landlord of a property in NSW with a currently impacted lease and have entered into an agreement to provide rental relief to tenants from 13 July 2021. Applicants must have more than 50 per cent of their total income derived from gross rental income for the 2019-20 or 2020-21 financial year.

The grant will equal the amount of rent waived each month from 1 August 2021 to 14 November 2021, to a maximum of $3000 per month, for each eligible property.

The NSW Government is also offering residential tenancy support payments and land tax relief for eligible commercial and residential landowners as part of its COVID-19 support package.

Landlords who have claimed or will claim land tax relief between 1 July and 31 December 2021 are ineligible for Commercial Landlord Hardship Fund grants.

COVID-19 reopening roadmap update Hello , Yesterday, the NSW Government announced a further easing of restrictions after the state reaches 95 per cent double dose vaccination or 15 December, whichever comes first.

In continuing to support your reopening efforts, we are providing you: New advice and guidance on easing restrictions at 95 per cent double vaccination or 15 December.

Information on roadmap updates for industry and businesses With more than 92 per cent of people over 16 now fully vaccinated, further adjustments to the roadmap will encourage people to go out and support businesses with a much-needed boost over summer. These updates include: Masks will be strongly encouraged in settings where physical distancing isn't possible but will still remain mandatory for: o public transport o planes and at airports o indoor front-of-house hospitality staff who are not fully vaccinated.

COVID safety plans will be optional for businesses but COVID safety guidance will continue to be offered to business with support from SafeWork NSW. QR Code check-ins will only be required at venues deemed high-risk including: o hospitals o aged and disability care facilities o gyms o places of worship, funerals or memorial services o personal services including hairdressers and beauty salons o limited hospitality settings (including pubs, small bars, registered clubs and nightclubs) o indoor music festivals with more than 1,000 people.

Proof of vaccination will no longer be required by Public Health Order for most activities but businesses can still require proof at their own discretion.

The NSW Government will continue to review the roadmap settings and make any appropriate changes based on the current case numbers and vaccination rates. Information on the roadmap including advice for businesses is available at nsw.gov.au.

Rapid Antigen Testing - updated advice Your business can use rapid antigen testing as an additional tool to help stop the spread of COVID-19 in the workplace. NSW Health is advising businesses that rapid antigen testing should only be used for employees who do not have COVID19 symptoms.

While rapid antigen testing is a quick way to detect COVID-19, if workers have even mild symptoms, they should instead get a PCR test (nose and throat swab) at a NSW testing clinic and self-isolate until a negative result is received. They should not attend the workplace with any COVID-19 symptoms.

To further support businesses in correctly using and distributing rapid antigen testing, we have linked the following resources: For businesses using rapid antigen testing for employees attending worksites, an updated simplified fact sheet is now available.

For businesses that sell or distribute rapid antigen testing including retail stores, pharmacies and supermarkets, a new poster and other point-of-sale material can be downloaded.

Many businesses in NSW are using rapid antigen testing to support business continuity. For more information on rapid antigen testing, visit nsw.gov.au.

Dear Wally, We are pleased to announce the launch of a joint publication between the NSW Productivity Commission and the NSW Innovation and Productivity Council and the second report in the NSW Remote Working Insights series: Why hybrid is here to stay and how to seize the opportunities.

This report presents some of the first data on where NSW remote working patterns may settle when the pandemic ends. It examines remote working patterns in early 2021, when community transmission of COVID-19 was minimal and health restrictions had eased. The report includes insights from a follow-up survey of 1,500 NSW workers who can work remotely in their current job (‘remoteable workers’) collected from March to April 2021, plus case-studies drawn from interviews with 12 diverse employers, and consultations with eight peak bodies.

Report highlights include: When health restrictions eased in early 2021, 30 per cent of all work tasks in the NSW economy continued to be done remotely. If this pattern continued after the pandemic, almost a third ($165 billion a year in 2021 dollars) of NSW’s total Gross State Product would be produced through remote work, up from around a fifth before the pandemic in 2019.

The COVID-induced rise in remote work could raise NSW’s productivity permanently by 1.9 per cent, or $6 billion a year (in 2021 dollars)—one of the biggest boosts to NSW productivity in recent years. This translates to an extra $1,800 a year for the average NSW household.

Workers report that remote working reduces their commuting time, improves their sense of wellbeing, and allows them to work flexibly around their other commitments and activities. For employers, remote working opens access to wider labour pools, increases employee engagement, and reduces staff turnover. It also makes them more resilient to future shocks and stresses.

We are not seeing the ‘death of the office’. When restrictions lifted, hybrid working was the most popular choice for remoteable workers and their employers. Most workers do not want to work remotely full-time and enjoy coming into the office for collaboration, team building, and social contact.

Employers and workers view hybrid working as a ‘win-win’ because it combines the benefits of remote and on-site work.

Leading organisations are adopting innovative policies, processes, and initiatives to support remote and hybrid working. These include tailoring flexible working arrangements to individuals, roles, and teams; experimenting with different policies and arrangements; reshaping the office and work practices; finding new ways to measure work; and building strong and inclusive hybrid working cultures.
