As the “gateway to the west,” Canterbury Bankstown connects Sydney’s inner city with Western Sydney, positioning it as a vital hub for economic activity, transport, and culture. The 24/7 Western Sydney International Airport (WSIA) will amplify our region’s importance, presenting opportunities we must prepare to embrace.
Enhancing connectivity through upgraded roads, public transport, and active transport links to WSIA is essential. Transforming public spaces into vibrant hubs with markets, events, and cultural activities will attract both residents and visitors. Supporting industries like hospitality, logistics, and e-commerce, which align with the airport’s non-stop operations, will bolster our local economy.
Encouraging mixed-use developments that blend commercial, residential, and entertainment spaces will foster thriving communities. Positioning Canterbury Bankstown as a hub for airport-related industries such as freight and warehousing will create jobs and drive growth.
Collaborating with education providers will ensure a skilled workforce for future industries while preserving our region’s unique character and liveability.
By focusing on these priorities, Canterbury Bankstown can solidify its position as a key economic and cultural leader.
