Foundation inducts four into Hall of Fame

Copiah-Lincoln Community College Foundation inducted four new members into its Hall of Fame at a major donor appreciation banquet held March 22 at the Thames Center on the college’s Wesson campus. Those inducted were Bank of Franklin, Dr. Dennis Granberry of Hattiesburg, Lamar and Pauline Stokes of Summit and Short Line Implement Company. Bank of Franklin The Bank of Franklin was chartered in 1911 and opened for business in October 1912 in a one-room structure on Main Street in Meadville. The bank now operates in a larger structure at the same location and has branches in Brookhaven, Bude, and Meadville. Another branch will open in McComb this spring. The bank was named for Franklin County which was named for philosopher and statesman Benjamin Franklin. Representing Bank of Franklin at the dinner was Bradley B. Jones. He was elected president of the bank in 2005 and became chief executive officer of the bank in 2010. Jones is a former attorney and previously served on the board of directors. The Bank of Franklin has supported the Foundation through special events at both the Wesson and Natchez campuses. Dr. Dennis Granberry Dr. Dennis L. Granberry of Hattiesburg was honored for his contributions to the Foundation’s general fund. He is a 1966 graduate of Co-Lin, and completed his dental school training at the University of Tennessee at Memphis and received a master’s degree in orthodontics from Georgetown University. He has been practicing orthodontics for 41 years. He has been board certified for over 20 years and is a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthodontics. Dr. Granberry is involved in numerous community and professional organizations such as the American Heart Association and the Mississippi Association of Orthodontics, in which he is past president, and Main Street United Methodist Church. opment Partnership and the Southern Society of Orthodontics, as well as the Hattiesburg Racquet Club, Hattiesburg Civic Light Opera and Just Over the Rainbow Theater. He is married to the former Erin Finley of Mendenhall, and they have two sons, Lee and Eric. Short Line Implement Company Short Line Implement was recognized for its contributions to the Henry and Mary Lehmann Hadskey Scholarship. Founded in 1967 by Glynn E. Hadskey, Sr., Short Line is a multi-faced company with the ability to warehouse, unload, package and ship products. The firm is located centrally in (continued on page 2)

Co-Lin hosts Smithsonian exhibit

Copiah-Lincoln Community College, in cooperation with the Mississippi Humanities Council, the Museum on Main Street division of the Smithsonian Institution, and the National Archives, is hosting the traveling exhibit entitled, “The Way We Worked,” on the Wesson campus from April 3 until May 9. Co-Lin is one of only six sites in the state chosen to host this exhibit. The exhibit is housed in the Mutton Building in the center of the Wesson campus and is open Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. Admission is free and open to the public. The exhibit will appeal to children as young as 4th grade and adults of all ages. “The Way We Worked,” adapted from the original exhibition developed by the National Archives, explores how work became such a central element in American culture by tracing the many changes (continued on page 2)
