The Stan Siwik Family Leisure Pool, Nicholas Sheran Family Leisure Pool, Fritz Sick Pool, and Henderson Outdoor Pool are community treasures that serve the people of Lethbridge and Southern Alberta. Our team is committed to providing the community our best customer service, clean and safe facilities and activities for all ages.
Henderson Outdoor Pool
Hey Lethbridge! It’s that time of the year. You have to check out our Henderson Summer KickOff on June 7, 2026 from 1pm until 7pm with a $4 entry fee—it’s going to be a blast! Come hit the pool for a swim at a discounted rate and kick off summer the right way. While you’re lounging around, our awesome team will be running through safety training and emergency procedures to keep everyone safe all season long.
That’s just the start. Henderson has tons of exciting events coming up this summer, so stay tuned for more fun and cool things happening.

Tidal Vipers JLC Summer camp
Dive into an exciting two-week camp where swimmers improve their strokes, build strength and endurance, and learn essential lifesaving skills! Participants will also get a fun introduction to Lifesaving Sport events, combining skill development with action-packed activities in and out of the water.

Lesson Registration
• Registrations can be made online at lethbridge.ca/ swimming or by telephone/in-person Monday-Friday between the hours of 9am and 5pm.
• Registration is on a first come first served basis.
• If registering by phone and no one answers please leave a message.
• Participants may register in a maximum of two (2) classes/session.
• Participants may waitlist in any class.
Preparing to Register
Create an account prior to registration at lethbridge.ca/swimming. If you do not have an account you will need the following:
• Name & birth date of account holder (Adult)
• Name & birth date of participants
• Home address, phone # and postal code
• Program level, session time and alternatives if class is full
• Payment information incl 3 digit CVV # on credit cards for phone registrations
Fees
Fees must be paid in full at the time of registration. Cash, Debit, Visa, MC, Rec Ex Gift Card & Cheque are accepted in person. Cheques are payable to Recreation Excellence. Post dated cheques are not accepted. A $25 charge will be applied to all NSF cheques. Only Visa & MC are accepted for phone registrations. Visa & MC Debit cards are accepted online and in person.

Program cancellation
Programs with insufficient registration are subject to cancellation. Customers will be notified as soon as a decision regarding cancellation has been made. All efforts will be made to accomodate any registrants displaced by cancellations. A full refund or credit to account will be issued for courses cancelled by Recreation Excellence.
Withdrawls
• Withdrawals received more than fourteen (14) days prior to the start of the lesson set or course will not be subject to a withdrawal fee.
• Withdrawals made between five (5) and fourteen (14) days prior to the lesson start date will be subject to a 10% withdrawal fee. The remaining balance may be left on your account for future use or a refund may be requested.
• Refunds of less than $5.00 will remain on the account.
• You may withdraw and re-register into another program without penalty prior to five (5) days before the lesson start date.
• No refunds will be given if withdrawal is within five (5) days of the lesson start date.
Transfers
All transfers are subject to availability and may be made without penalty up to five (5) days prior to the lesson start date. Transfers made by Recreation Excellence will not incur a penalty. Any resulting increase in program fees due to the transfer must be paid by the customer at the time of transfer.

Withdrawals for medical / relocation reasons are permitted with no penalty prior to the lesson start date. Refunds for withdrawal after the lesson start date will result in a pro-rated refund or credit on account. Proof of medical / relocation must be provided within two (2) weeks of notification of withdrawal for refunds or credits to be issued.

Red Cross Standard First Aid (Blended)

National Lifeguard - Pool Recertification $74.00

The objective of the NL Precert is to provide candidates an opportunity to review NL skills and knowledge and to provide education on new information.
Note: Must bring NL certification and current Intermediate First Aid Certification to the exam
Intermediate First Aid Recertification (formerly Standard) requires both theoretical and practical skill examinations. Those using another Alberta workplace-approved standard first aid as a prerequisite must show proof of current certification. If no longer current, individuals must attend the original course. Unsuccessful candidates in the recertification course must complete the original course.
Prerequisite(s): Must bring current Intermediate First Aid Certification
This 15 hour course prepares candidates an understanding of the lifesaving principles in the four components of water rescue education: judgement, knowledge, skills and fitness. *Note: Bronze Medallion is offered seperately from Bronze Cross
Prerequisite(s): Must be 13 years old and hold a Bronze Star Certification to course.
This 20 hour course begins the transition from lifesaving to lifeguarding and prepares candidates for responsibilities as a lifeguard.

The Lifesaving Instructor course prepares Instructors to apply level 1 leadership competencies and strategies while teaching and evaluating.

SwimAbilities Instructors are responsible for teaching and evaluating candidates participating in the SwimAbilities learn to swim program. Opening the season is Millennium, running August 6–22. This electrifying musical revue celebrates the biggest hits of the 1990s and 2000s, taking audiences on a nostalgic journey through two unforgettable decades of pop and rock music. Packed with iconic songs, dynamic performances, and nonstop energy, Millennium promises to launch the season with excitement, fun, and plenty of singalong moments.
In the fall, New West Theatre presents Flight Risk by Meg Braem from October 15–24. This moving new Canadian play tells the story of Hank Dun eld, a World War II veteran approaching his 100th birthday who wants nothing to do with the celebrations planned around him. As nursing student Sarah cares for him during the preparations, she begins to uncover the memories, struggles, and humanity beneath his tough exterior. Inspired by interviews with Alberta veterans and caregivers, Flight Risk explores themes of aging, dignity, resilience, and unexpected connection.
The holiday season welcomes the return of New West Theatre’s Holiday Special from December 10–31. A beloved annual tradition, the production combines festive classics with a lively rock ’n’ roll twist, delivering powerful vocals, comedy, and heartwarming holiday spirit for audiences of all ages. Closing the season is Stones in His Pockets by Marie Jones, running February 11–20. This internationally acclaimed two-person dark comedy follows Charlie and Jake, two locals hired as extras on a Hollywood lm shoot in rural Ireland. June Artists in Residence at Casa
This June, Casa is pleased to welcome Chiao-Chih Lu and Natalie Gerber to the Artist in Residence (AiR) Program. Both artists are recognized for their innovative, hands-on practices spanning ceramics, textiles, and contemporary craft, each exploring material, process, and form in distinctive ways.
Chiao-Chih Lu works primarily in ceramics, exploring transformation, balance, and impermanence through the interplay of black clay and porcelain. Inspired by natural forms and organic textures. During her residency, Lu will present two Botanical Garden workshops on June 27 and 28, both from 12:00 to 5:00 pm at Casa.
Natalie Gerber works across textiles, ceramics, photography, print media, and book arts. Natalie will lead a Textile Prints workshop at Casa on Saturday June 6 from 1:00 to 5:00 pm

Young or old, who doesn’t enjoy a picnic? Here are some ideas to make your next picnic with family or f riends one you’ll want to repeat!
Picnic Foods:
Think of easy-to-prep favourites like pasta salad, wraps, f ruit salad, veggies and hummus, watermelon and brownie bites If you are feeling up for a little more, visit the riverbottom or Henderson Lake where you can use barbeques as well Don’t forget to pack plates and cutlery and some water or lemonade to drink.
Picnic Games:
There are lots of fun backyard games available like bean bag toss but you don’t need fancy equipment to have some fun! Our recreational dance program runs from September to June. In this dance program, students learn steps and combinations that will help them improve coordination, balance, and self-confidence, in a safe and encouraging environment. These students will have the opportunity to share what they have learned in our year-end recital.

Aliya de Gruchy
On April 15, Aliya de Gruchy was awarded the 2025 Lethbridge Spor t Council Achievement Award in the category of Special Olympics Athlete, an athletic performance award.
Aliya de Gruchy has been swimming for five years, coming to the spor t after teaching herself the basics and quickly showing the speed and determination to improve Quiet and shy, she works diligently on her stroke and technique, pushing herself to develop with each practice
At age 16, she earned a spot on Team Alber ta for the Canada Games, overcoming nerves and the challenge of long course racing While training simultaneously for Provincials in shor t course and the Canada Games in long course, Aliya demonstrated remarkable focus and perseverance She won four medals at Provincials and achieved personal bests at the Canada Games in Newfoundland. Her determination, consistent effor t, and commitment to improving her performance make her a deserving recipient of this award and an inspiring member of Team Alber ta.

Sport has a unique way of bringing people together and helping them discover what they’re capable of SportFest was created to make those opportunities easier to find, easier to try, and easier to enjoy.
SportFest is, quite literally, a massive ‘give-it-a-try’ event, and even though SportFest is done for another year, doesn’t mean your opportunities to try out and find a sport are done. We are keeping the spirit of SportFest alive all year long with our Give It A Try ~ Powered by SportFest initiative. Read on to learn more.
The idea behind SportFest is simple: sport matters Sport and active recreation help build healthy individuals and stronger communities by supporting physical and mental well-being, creating social connections, and helping people build confidence and life skills. For children, sport helps develop fundamental movement skills and teaches lessons in teamwork, resilience, and perseverance For adults, it offers opportunities to stay active, reduce stress, meet people, and rediscover activities they enjoy
That same spirit continues through Give It A Try ~ Powered by SportFest Throughout the year, local sport and recreation organizations host introductory events, open houses, and beginnerfriendly opportunities designed to help people explore new activities without the pressure of long-term commitment or experience. Whether you’re looking for a sport for your child, hoping to try something new yourself, or simply wanting to become more active, Give It A Try events make it easier to take that first step
Sport also strengthens communities by bringing people together across ages, backgrounds, and skill levels. Local sport organizations and volunteers play an important role in creating welcoming opportunities for participation, and SportFest helps connect the community with those organizations in an accessible, low-pressure environment.

Play Favourites:
The spinning ball and spinning chair were the absolute favorites for our playground testers (ages 4 and 7)
Climbing structures with many levels of difficulty were a big hit also!
Park Perks:
This playground is accessible and surfacing. The beautiful mature trees are great for bird watching There is a HUGE green space to play soccer or catch, as well as a new half basketball court
Play and Stay!
Our park testers stayed at the playground for about 45 minutes, but easily could have stayed longer to enjoy all the green space for a game of soccer or a picnic
Pro Tip: The City of Lethbridge and Lethbridge Plays
The playground structure would be great for a game of grounders thanks to all the climbing options!
