Reflecting on our First Term

As we wrap up the first term, it’s a perfect moment to reflect on all that we’ve achieved together as a school community. This term has been filled with new learning experiences, exciting events, and opportunities for growth. From embracing creativity in classrooms to collaborating on projects that brought us closer, we’ve made memories to be proud of.

Challenges were met with resilience, and successes were celebrated with joy. Let’s carry the lessons learned and the energy from this term into the next, continuing to support and inspire one another every step of the way.

Arts & Culture: Festivities around the w rld

Festivities around the world reflect the rich diversity of cultures, traditions, and histories that bring people together in celebration. From the vibrant colors of India’s Holi festival to the glowing lanterns of China’s Mid-Autumn Festival, each event showcases unique customs and values. In Brazil, Carnival bursts with music, dance, and elaborate costumes, while in Germany, Oktoberfest celebrates community and heritage with hearty food and drink.

These celebrations, whether marking religious beliefs, seasonal changes, or historical milestones, foster joy, unity, and a sense of belonging across the globe.

With this in mind, students from the 7th and 8th grades selected a festivit from around the world to research and present to their classmates. Each student explored the traditions, history, and cultural significance of their chosen celebration, bringing it to life through engaging presentations. This activity allowed them to share fascinating insights, learn about diverse cultures, and appreciate the ways people around the world come together in joy and unity.

Project Area - Giotto és tu!

GIOTTO is organizing a fantastic creativity competition based on the figure of the artist Giotto, to discover the artists within. This year’s theme is “Todos Pintamos Contra o Bullying” (We All Paint Against Bullying).

This project was developed to tackle one of the problems that most affects children and young people in our society: bullying. The figures are very worrying: in Portugal, 1 in 4 pupils has already been bullied!

Our school staff has undergone several trainings and workshops to deal effectively with this topic in our school grounds. For these reasons, we have encouraged our students to create a work of art together Against Bullying at School.

Learning on the Go English is Contagious: our Podcast

by English Club Students

Students in the English Club have taken on the exciting project of creating a school podcast, showcasing their creativity and language skills. This initiative allows them to explore topics of interest, from school events and global issues to fun interviews and storytelling.

Through planning, scripting, and recording, the students practice their English in a dynamic and engaging way while also connecting with the school community. The podcast serves as a platform for their voices to be heard and encourages collaboration, confidence, and communication skills.

Our Events - Pajama Day

On 20th November 2024, we celebrated Pyjama Day, bringing the school and community together to support a meaningful cause that highlights the importance of every child’s needs and their right to a safe and loving home.

We collaborated with Missão Pijama, an initiative dedicated to ensuring every child has the opportunity to grow up within a family environment. This fun and educational day aimed to promote strong, healthy family connections and consistent educational experiences.

Students and staff were invited to wear their pyjamas to school, fostering a casual and comfortable setting that strengthened the sense of togetherness and community spirit in support of this initiative.
