“I’ve often thought I’d like to be a lecturer and while further training to qualify after this course is what I’d like to do, the course is helping me in other ways too.

“Rwyf wedi meddwl yn aml yr hoffwn fod yn ddarlithydd ac er mai hyfforddi ymhellach i gymhwyso ar ôl y cwrs hwn yw’r hyn yr hoffwn ei wneud, mae’r cwrs yn fy helpu mewn ffyrdd eraill hefyd.

“I’ve got a young daughter and with more qualifications under my belt, I’m improving my career prospects so I can give my daughter a good life. Plus, by understanding more about teaching and learning puts me in a better position to help my daughter with her homework.

“My tutor really brings the subject to life. Many in the class haven’t studied in a number of years but Cathy has made the return to the classroom easier than I thought.

Teaching styles have changed a lot since I was in school as there’s more emphasis on interaction and discussion, which I find makes it easier to understand, remember and apply in my assignments.

“The course is run in partnership with the University of South Wales and UHOVI and as I live in Torfaen I’m eligible for the UHOVI bursary which means the course was free. Being able to get a university qualification in my local area is brilliant. Work and family commitments mean I’d find it difficult to get to the University’s main campuses so the course is making learning, and improving myself, really accessible.”
