MOUNT HELIX
Mt Helix is easily recognizable by the large cross that stands at the summit of what is now a privately owned and managed historic amphitheater and nature preserve. The views of the valley from the top make the park one of the most photographed locations in the San Diego area, as well as one of the top tourist attractions. Nicknamed “The Crown Jewel of East County”, the popular park is also used as a venue for weddings, lectures, non-profit organizations, fishing, and hiking. It has a colorful history involving an initial foreclosure purchase back in 1903, citrus and avocado groves, and the beginning of a small artist colony following the first road through the area in 1913.
Here are reasons Mt. Helix is one of the best places to live in San Diego County:

• Lots are generally larger than average, many an acre or more
• Almost all homes are custom builds from the ‘50s –60’s with real character.
• Because of its elevated positions, many homes have views that are some of the best in the county
• The weather is great! It may be foggy at the beach, but you’ll be enjoying clear skies.
• Many of the roads are private, with a wonderful secluded feel.
• The location is fabulous with easy access to Interstate 8, Hwy 125 and Hwy 94. You can be in downtown San Diego in about 10 minutes.
• Minutes from the La Mesa Village which boasts great restaurants and plenty of antique stores.
• Proximity to shops are within a 5-mile radius.
• As part of La Mesa, there is still a small town feel and an opportunity to be involved with your community.
With all the mature trees, shrubs, the Spanish-style homes and the 60’s ranchers, and an area that has charm and character, Mt. Helix truly is a wonderful area to live in.
