Welcome to the Village of Robbins Newsletter As I look at the year 2017 in my rear view mirror, it was a good year!

I an extremely excited about being involved in the initial stages of our brain child, the MWRD (Metropolitan Water Reclamation District) flood mitigation & Robbins Park project. Further this project strategy was awarded the 2017 “Strategic Plan Award” by the American Planning Association. This project also has been awarded planning grants from UIC and CMAP (Chicago Metropolitan Association on Planning.)

Our Village’s 100 year Anniversary was Dec. 14, 2017. We kicked it off with our 1st ever “Free” Pre-Labor Day Festival (Friday/Saturday). And our parade Sunday, September 3, 2017 was one of our Biggest and Best Ever!

Next I combined my annual Senior Luncheon with our 100th Year anniversary. Almost 200 people were feed, provided optional limousine rides, entertained and received many prizes including 13 Flat screen televisions.

Finally one of our 100 year residents (Ms. Bernice Webb) was in attendance, which cut our 100 year anniversary 3 Tier cake.

The culminating 100 anniversary event occurred on the actual date (12-14-17) of the anniversary at our village hall where we sung happy birthday. We had hot chocolate, cupcakes and everyone present received a keepsake. Many stories were shared about our rich history.

As we proceed into this New Year, know that our goal is to remain aggressive/progressive in improving Robbins & providing needed services.

Focus on Technology The Office of Administration is taking steps to move Robbins forward in 2018. As part of our new technology initiative the Mayor’s Office has approved resources to help our residents and businesses customer service experience easier. This year we will be placing self checkout terminals in our lobby area for residents to pay water utility bills. Our new website will also make paying your bill effortless with online and mobile payment options. Applying for permits will be made simple with online permit applications and construction/ development plan PDF uploads. Starting February 1, 2018 our online career center will be available with job opportunity listings. We will also have a Career Kiosk located in our Village Hall, Library and Community Center. Two members of the Robbins fire department recently attended classes forTrustee PublicOfficeSafety Educator and fire inspector. Both of these classes will be 708) 385-8940used x231to increase fire prevention efforts being made by the Robbins Fire Department.

Deputy Chief Mickil Smith has been selected to represent mabas 22 at the mabas conference in Peoria in February. This is the first time that the Robbins Fire Department has represented the mabas 22 at the conference.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES THE VILLAGE OF ROBBINS IS SEEKING PART-TIME GENERAL LABORERS FOR WORK IN OUR PUBLIC WORKS DEPARTMENT. STARTING PAY IS $9.50 PER HOUR. MUST BE AVAILABLE TO WORK AT LEAST 25 HOURS PER WEEK AND HAVE A VALID DRIVERS LICENSE.

Water Department For the convenience of our residents the payment due date has been changed from the 28th of the month to the 4th of the month.

Payments are also available via Credit Card Water is subject to shut-off for nonpayment (2months in arrears.)

Water department hours are Monday- Friday 9am-5am Payment arrangements are available with a down payment.

Public Works Department We appreciate the Citizens of Robbins working with the village public works department. We encourage you to feel free to inform us of anything you see that is not working such as lights out, Pot holes and any downlines, etc.

Also if you see anyone illegally dumping please notify the Police Department and have some kind of proof such as a license plate number or a picture of the incident. If the person is prosecuted for the offense you could receive a reward of $500.00.
