Performing Arts at Cokethorpe School For a long time there has been compelling evidence that involvement in the arts benefits both academic and social skills. It promotes independent learning, sharpens critical and creative ability, develops tolerance and empathy and promotes resilience and wellbeing. In an increasingly competitive, team-oriented world where future jobs require imagination and ingenuity, it is no surprise that creativity is now one of the most sought-after skills in the workplace. Cokethorpe has always embraced the arts and is proud to offer pupils and students a variety of extra-curricular activities in different disciplines. If this is your first year at Cokethorpe or your last, I encourage you to get involved, be it on stage or behind the scenes. The Shedule is a programme of events that run throughout the year, offering you all a multitude of opportunities to get involved and support your friends. Join the Choral Society, audition for a production, learn a new skill and support your House and your friends in their artistic endeavours. You have nothing to lose and so much to gain. BOOKING INFORMATION Tickets for most, but not all, events and performances can be reserved using the link that is included in the relevant Letter Home. Contact details for the Box Office: 01993 892338 boxoffice@cokethorpe.org The Shedule features all Performing Arts events for the year. As some performances are for formal examinations, attendance may be by invitation only. The Shedule also includes School events which are not open to an audience. Full details including ticket booking information, ticket sale release dates and event locations can be found on the event listing on the School website calendar. If you have any special requirements such as wheelchair access please let us know when you book your tickets or contact us. Please do not overbook for events as this can prevent others from claiming tickets. If you do find yourself with spare tickets please contact the Box Office as soon as possible as we may be able to resell or reallocate them. For the benefit of our patrons and for child protection reasons we no longer allow the taking of photographs or the use of video equipment by audience members at the majority of our events. Official photographs and video recordings may be available – please contact us for details. 18 September 2021 CPFA Murder Mystery A fantastic evening of laughter, fabulous food, drinks and sleuthing. Featuring a cast of Cokethorpe teachers as you have never seen them before, this popular event sells out quickly. 7.00pm - 11.00pm The Marquee on the Lawn
29/30 September 2021 Alice in Wonderland Year 3, 4. 5 and 6 present their long-awaited performance of Lewis Caroll’s Alice in Wonderland. 7.00pm The Shed
15 October 2021 House Singing Competition This promises to be a hotly fought afternoon as Houses battle it out against one another. There will be a whole House song and a vocal ensemble from each House.

19 October 2021 Fifth Form GCSE Devised Performances As part of their GCSE course, Fifth Form Drama candidates present their devised work for a live audience. Based on a variety of stimuli, pupils collaborate to produce a final practical piece. The process and performance is analysed and evaluated in a detailed portfolio.

14/15 December 2021 The Threepenny Opera It is the Queen’s coronation and crime lord, Captain Macheath, better known as Mack the Knife, has returned to London to turn his illegal empire into a legitimate business.
