New year opportunity to meet fitness goals The holidays have come and gone! With the new year on the horizon, it is the perfect time to get into a regular workout routine at the Hurst Recreation Center. Whether you want to continue your fitness program, get back on track, or start a new one altogether, the Hurst Recreation Center can help you meet all of your fitness goals! We invite you to enjoy our activities and programs! We offer hundreds of classes, a basketball court, racquetball, volleyball, and indoor and outdoor pickleball. Use the indoor track to get some exercise or work out in our state-of-the-art fitness center. Equipment for all activities is available for check out with your Rec Membership Card at the Recreation Center’s front desk..

Is your preference navigating your workout solo? The Fitness Center has all the equipment you need to get a complete workout. The treadmills, elliptical cross-trainers, and lateral trainers in the Cardio Room all have individual television screens that allow you to watch your favorite TV show during your workout. You can enjoy our HDTVs while using our treadmills and ellipticals, bikes, stairclimbers, rowing machines, and seated cross-trainers, or use your smart device to listen to your favorites. There is something for everyone! And any complete fitness program includes a strength training regimen. We have an extensive selection of machined weights and plateloaded strength equipment and dumbbells, and flexibility equipment. Healthy Hurst

Healthy Hurst Wellness Program Healthy Hurst is the City of Hurst’s community-wide wellness initiative. Participants can increase their health, wellness, and fitness by using the City of Hurst’s Healthy Hurst web page’s information and links. Healthy Hurst isn’t just about physical activity. It’s about mental, physical, and social health. Whether visiting a park, working out at the Hurst Recreation Center, or

attending one of our many city events, you are actively a part of Healthy Hurst. Be sure to look for our multiple Healthy Hurst sponsored events throughout the year. These events include the Eight to Great Fitness Challenge, Kids Triathlon, Dash’ N’ Splash 1 mile & 5k run, and Walktober®.

NUTRITION COUNSELING Can’t get rid of that extra weight? Need nutrition assistance for your sports training? Have a medical condition that would benefit from nutrition assistance? With expertise in weight loss and management, disease management, sports nutrition, eating disorders, and general wellness, individual nutrition counseling is available for your every need. Fitness-Related Programs & Events To help our citizens find fun ways to incorporate a healthy lifestyle into their lives, we offer fitness-related programs and events throughout the year. These programs and events are free to all Hurst residents and nonresidents who are members of the Hurst Recreation Center.

Healthy Hurst - Eight to Great Fitness Challenge When January 3-February 28 Start 2022 off right with your fitness resolution. With the Healthy Hurst Eight to Great Fitness Challenge, you can get started toward your healthy lifestyle. Participants can choose to log their workouts and/or track their weight loss during the 2022 Eight to Great Fitness Challenge. Incentive awards are given based on the level of participation. Register for the Healthy Hurst Wellness Program at no charge. To be eligible for incentive awards, keep track of your workouts and weight loss for eight weeks between January 3 and February 28. Member Appreciation Week When March 28-April 1 Join us at the Hurst Recreation Center as we celebrate you! On average, 15,000 members and participants use our Recreation Center each month, and we want to show our appreciation for your support! There will be give-away items, refreshments, and door prizes. Daddy & Daughter Valentine’s Ball When Saturday, February 5 Where Hurst Senior Activities Center, 700 Heritage Circle Tickets are $30 per couple and $15 per additional daughter. Adaptive Egg Hunt When April 8 | 5:30 p.m. Where Central Park, Mary Drive (across from the Hurst Tennis Center) This event is for children under the age of 16 with special needs and their families. Concert in the Park Series

When Fridays at 7:00 p.m.: April 22 | May 6 | May 20 | June 3 | June 17 Where Heritage Village Plaza, 841 W. Pipeline Road Bring the whole family and blankets, coolers, or chairs while we present five concerts in the park! We will have a food truck, concessions, and restrooms on-site, but feel free to pack a picnic if you so choose. Please remember that we do not allow glass in our parks. Registration Information Classes begin the week of January 10 (unless otherwise indicated)

Registration Policy Walk-in and online registration for Hurst residents begins on Monday, November 29, at 7:00 a.m. Non-residents are able to register beginning on Monday, December 13, at 7:00 a.m.

How do you know if you are a Hurst Resident? Residency is defined by: living within the Hurst city limits, receiving a water bill from the City of Hurst, and paying property taxes to the City of Hurst.

Sign Up to Register Online That’s right — you can save time and register your entire family online! To get started, you will need to visit the Hurst Recreation Center to activate your account. If you are a Hurst resident, you will need to bring your Hurst water bill, Hurst property tax statement, or Hurst apartment lease, and your photo ID as proof of Hurst residency to receive the Hurst resident rates. Once you have activated your account and received your user name and

password, you will be able to use our online registration feature. You do not have to wait until your appropriate registration date to activate your account and receive your user name and password. Go ahead and do it the next time you are at the Recreation Center for your current class or working out. Then you will be ready to register online the day registration starts!

Refund Guidelines Recreation Classes: When you sign up for one of our classes, we depend on your participation for a successful class. If you have an unforeseen circumstance and cannot attend your class, we will gladly refund your fee with 72 hours’ notice prior to the class start date of Recreation Center classes. Thank you for your cooperation.

Visit www.hursttx.gov/recreation to log in to an existing account. If you don’t have an account, see below on how to create one online.

In Person

You can register by completing a registration form at the Hurst Recreation Center. We accept cash, check, or credit card.

Steps to register online: 1 Go to www.hursttx.gov/recreation and use the left-hand menu to click “Classes & Registration.”

Deadline Guidelines

Click “Sign in here” or the green “Member Sign-in” icon. By clicking, you are directed to an outside website. If at any time you need to go back to the Recreation website, click on the City of Hurst logo.

Registration for all pre-school and youth classes must be completed in advance. The deadline for registration in pre-school and youth programs is seven days prior to the class start date.

3 Click “Sign In/Register” at the very top of the page. This feature allows you to either sign in to your current account or create a new account if you do not already have one. To register for a program online, you MUST have a household account. If you do not have one, you may make one online or in-person at the Hurst Recreation Center. To create an account online, please enter all required information. When you create an account online, you are automatically designated as a non-resident. In order to receive the Hurst resident rate when registering online, you must prove residence beforehand. There is not a refund or prorate of the fee after registering. Hurst Residents must provide proof of residency in-person at the Hurst Recreation Center, such as driver’s license and current Hurst water bill or lease agreement. Upon reviewing the proof of residency information, Recreation staff will change the designation from non-resident to resident.

ENROLL EARLY Help us keep your favorite classes around by enrolling early. There is a point when a course must be canceled due to low enrollment. Help us prevent course cancellations by registering early!

Once you have logged in, select the program of interest from the main menu. Search for your specific programs by the activity code number listed throughout the Live and Play Parks and Recreation Activity Guide in the keyword search bar. Next, choose the family member you would like to register. Fill in any roster notes, if needed, and “Add to Cart.” Repeat for each individual family member. Once complete, click “Proceed to Check Out” and pay for your programs.

Lifeguard $12/hour As a lifeguard, you are responsible for ensuring guest safety alongside working with fun, energetic staff. If you enjoy working outside and meeting lots of new people, this job is for you! Training provided in-house, free of charge. Must be able to swim 100 yards, retrieve a 10-pound brick from 12 feet of water, and tread water for 1 minute without hands. Swim Lesson Instructor $12/hour Do you love working with kids? Then this job is for you! As a swim lesson instructor, you are responsible for teaching kids of all ages and levels how to swim. Training provided in-house, free of charge. Must be able to swim 300 yards. Pool Attendant $10.50/hour The Pool Attendants are the backbone of our Aquatics Team. They help to provide a safe and clean environment for our guests while enjoying a fun work environment. Cashier $10/hour We are looking for personable and energetic people to be the face of our Aquatics Centers. Cashiers are responsible for answering phones, taking admissions, and providing general customer service. Applications open December 13. It’s never too early to apply!
