Personal training is back at the Hurst Recreation Center! With a current or new purchase of a membership, you receive a complimentary 1-hour fitness assessment with our inhouse Fitness Coordinator. This personalized assessment is the key to understanding where you are in your fitness journey and gaining valuable insights on the necessary steps you can take to reach your lifestyle goals.

Youth Fitness: Power Hour

This is the ultimate youth fitness class designed for 10-14 yearolds. Led by certified instructor, Jason Taylor, NASM, this dynamic 45-minute session introduces kiddos to the fundamentals of fitness, while ensuring they have a blast! More than just a sweat session, Power Hour educates participants on establishing and maintaining a healthy, active lifestyle, covering everything from nutrition to proper hydration. Parents can trust their kids are in expert hands, as the program instills confidence and camaraderie, setting the stage for a lifelong love of fitness and wellbeing. More information is on page 20.

Healthy Hurst

NUTRITION COUNSELING

We have all heard the saying that a healthy lifestyle is 80% diet and 20% fitness. Are you looking for some guidance to successfully maintain that 80%? Look no further! With expertise in weight loss management, disease management, sports nutrition, eating disorders, and general wellness, our individual nutrition counseling is available for your every need. Healthy Hurst Wellness Program

Healthy Hurst is a comprehensive community wellness initiative offered by the City of Hurst. Here is the core of Healthy Hurst.

Community Wellness Initiative: Healthy Hurst is a citywide initiative aimed at promoting health, wellness, and fitness among the residents and employees of Hurst, Texas.

Holistic Approach: The initiative focuses on not just physical health but also mental and social well-being. This reflects an understanding that overall wellness involes multiple aspects of life.

Accessible Resources: The Healthy Hurst website is a central hub for information, offering resources like healthy recipes and other materials for healthy living.

Diverse Activities: Healthy Hurst offers a variety of activities to engage in, whether it’s visiting parks,

Kid’s Triathlon

A fun twist on the traditional triathlon gives kids ages 5-12 the opportunity to complete a short run and bike course and cool off on a fun water slide afterward. Registration opens on August 5.

Challenge Accepted: Family Health and Fitness Day

Bring the whole family out to celebrate National Family Health and Fitness Day! We start with our 1-mile walk/run followed by some fun games & challenges! Visit us online at hursttx.gov/recreation to sign up your family for the fun! Each 4-person team requires at least 1 adult, 18 or over to participate. Everyone who participates on the day of the event receives a free Aquatics pass! All families who complete the entire challenge will be entered into a drawing for a 4 pack of season passes at the Hurst Aquatics Centers. Registration begins May 6, 2024.

July is Park & Recreation Month

For nearly 40 years, we have celebrated Park and Recreation Month in July to promote building strong, vibrant and resilient communities through the power of parks and recreation. This month is dedicated to recognizing and celebrating the more than 160,000 full-time park and recreation professionals along with hundreds of thousands of part-time and seasonal workers and volunteers who maintain our country’s local, state and community parks.

This year’s theme “Where You Belong” celebrates the many ways park and recreation professionals across the country foster a sense of belonging in their community by providing welcoming and inclusive programs, essential services for all ages and abilities, and safe, accessible spaces to build meaningful connections.

Registration Policy

Walk-in and online registration for Hurst residents begins Monday, May 6 at 7 a.m. and non-residents begins Monday, May 13 at 7 a.m.

How do I know if I am a Hurst resident?

Residency is defined by: living within the Hurst city limits, receiving a water bill from the City of Hurst, and paying property taxes to the City of Hurst.

A $2 fee per class will be applied for non-residents.

Online and in-person registration is available until the start day of class, space permitting.

• When registering, only hit SUBMIT once. It may take a moment to load, but once it is selected, your payment will process.

Refund Guidelines

Recreation Classes: When you sign up for one of our classes, we depend on your participation for a successful class. If you have an unforeseen circumstance and cannot attend your class, we will gladly refund your fee with 72 hours notice before the class start date. Thank you for your cooperation.

Deadline Guidelines

Registration for all pre-school and youth classes must be completed in advance. The deadline for registration in pre-school and youth programs is seven days prior to the class start date.

ENROLL EARLY

Help us keep your favorite classes around by enrolling early. There is a point when a course must be canceled due to low enrollment. Help us prevent course cancellations by registering early!

In Person

You can register by completing a registration form at the Hurst Recreation Center. We accept cash, check, or credit card.

Steps to register online:

Go to hursttx.gov/hrcclass to view the online Live & Play and registration instructions.

Click “Sign in here” or image titled “Register for Classes.” The click takes you to an outside website . If you need to return to the Recreation website, click on the City of Hurst logo.

Click “Sign In/Register” at the very top of the page. This feature allows you to either sign in to your current account or create a new account if you do not already have one.

To register for a program online, you MUST have a household account. If you do not have one, you may make one online or in-person at the Hurst Recreation Center. To create an account online, please enter all required information. When you create an account online, you are automatically designated as a non-resident. When registering online, you must prove your residency beforehand to receive the Hurst resident rate. After registering, there is no refund or prorate of the fee(s).

Hurst Residents must provide proof of residency at the Hurst Recreation Center, such as a driver’s license and current Hurst water bill or lease agreement. Upon reviewing the proof of residency information, the Recreation staff will change the designation from non-resident to resident.

Search for Programs and Shop

• Once you have logged in, select the program of interest from the main menu. Search for your specific programs by the activity code number listed throughout the Live & Play Parks and Recreation Activity Guide in the keyword search bar.

• Next, choose the family member you would like to register. Fill in any roster notes, if needed, and “Add to Cart.” Repeat for each individual family member.

• Once complete, click “Proceed to Check Out” and pay for your programs.

Please hold on to your receipts and bring them to the first day of class.
