By: Maurine LeCocq, Senior Center Journalist It’s May. . .such a beautiful time of the year! All the trees have greened up and the flowers are absolutely gorgeous, aren’t they? This is the special month that families celebrate and honor their Mothers. Ladies, mark May 10th on your calendars! In recognition of all the special ladies, The Senior Center will be hosting a Ladies Luncheon and Accessory Swap. Check the Senior Pipeline Calendar for the time and details. It’s always a very special event so plan to sign up and attend. I wonder what staff has up their sleeves to make us all feel special this year…

Besides all the regular activities that are scheduled on a monthly basis, Michelle and Linda are always coming up with new, exciting, and interesting special events and activities for us to enjoy. Sometimes more than one special event is scheduled on a specific day. These don’t just happen! Everything has to be scheduled according to need, size of group attending, and availability of speakers, etc. The rooms must be set up appropriately for each event and activity. The staff cannot always set up for every event without assistance from those folks who volunteer their time, energy and effort.

One special group of volunteers act as the Activity Hosts. They greet people attending the events and activities, making sure everyone signs in so the staff will have an accurate count for their records. This is a big help to the Staff. It’s easy to sit at the table out in front of a room and ask everyone

Caring Covers Our Senior Center members are like a close-knit family. So when one of our members is sick, has lost a loved one or is just having a rough time of it, we want to reach out to them. Our Knot-a-Lot group wants to share their “knotted” creations with those that need to know someone cares.

Please advise the front desk staff if you know of a fellow member who is in the hospital, grieving or feeling down, so that a “Caring Cover” prayer shawl can be shared with them.
