FREE COLORECTAL CANCER SCREENING
Did you know colorectal cancer is one of the most preventable cancers? Screening plays a vital role in catching it early -- or even stopping it before it starts According to the American Cancer Society, it’s the third most common cancer and second leading cause of cancer death in the U S , with over 1,900 Coloradans diagnosed and 680 lives lost each year
The good news? A simple at-home test can help. The Fecal Immunochemical Test (FIT) is an easy, non-invasive way to check for hidden blood in your stool a possible sign of cancer or precancerous conditions.
To support early detection, COE is distributing free FIT kits and offering education on cancer prevention Individuals eligible for a free FIT kit are:
✅ 45 - 75 years old
✅ Under or uninsured
✅Have not had a FIT in the past year, Cologuard test in the past 3 years, or colonoscopy in the past 10 years

BRINGING RESEARCH TO COMMUNITY
The COE team is partnering with the University of Colorado Multi-Disciplinary Center on Aging to host three Research Roadshow events in 2025. Research Roadshows will bring education about cancer risk and prevention, and opportunities to learn about and participate in cancer research studies led by Cancer Center investigators to communities across Colorado We will be focusing on communities and populations that are often not included in research, including people living in rural areas, diverse populations, and older adults
Our first Research Roadshow will be held in Pueblo, CO in early May We are also planning events in Northwest Colorado (Steamboat Springs area) and the Eastern Plains later this year

Looking to take a step towards a healthier future? The Be Strong program seeks to provide education about the harmful effects of tobacco products on health and wellbeing and access to a FREE vaping/tobacco cessation program for Coloradans
Education. COE is available to give educational presentations about tobacco/vaping and health at schools, community meetings and events, and workshops We can also share educational materials for local or state-wide distribution
Tobacco Cessation Program. COE is collaborating with 2Morrow Inc to offer access to their smoking and vaping cessation program, 2Morrow Health, which is available through a smartphone app. The program has modules for vaping, tobacco and for pregnant women who want to quit. It also offers access to professional coaches if desired.
