APSi Series Installation Evolution

The stadium and club installations showcased here demonstrate how APS and APS Pro have consistently delivered outstanding results in fixed environments, even though they were originally designed as touring systems.
Across these projects, integrators told us the same thing: they wanted the full acoustic performance of our touring platforms in a format purpose‑built for installations — lighter, cleaner, more cost‑efficient, and free from unnecessary touring hardware. They also needed flexible weather‑protection options, from durable outdoor finishes to full Marine Grade treatment, along with custom colour choices to match architectural requirements. The APSi Series was created precisely to meet that need.

With a capacity of 30,210, the BayArena is the definition of a modern sports venue. Home of Bayer 04 Leverkusen, one of Germany’s leading professional football clubs, the stadium is noteworthy for spectator proximity to the on field action. Over the years the club has always looked towards innovative and sustainable solutions when it comes to stadium technology, and one of its most recent advances was to replace it’s existing audio provision with the installation of a CODA Audio sound system.
The aim was to significantly improve the sound situation in the stadium with a high quality, attractively priced solution. For the new system, the clearly communicated goal was to achieve an STI value of 0.56 on at least 90% of the areas to be covered.”
CODA Audio APS was chosen for the stadium. APS (Arrayable Point Source) is a lightweight (27kg), hybrid loudspeaker which can be used as a single point source as well as in horizontal or vertical arrays. As a ‘best of both worlds’ solution which can combine the scalability of a line array with the flexibility of a point source, APS was the perfect fit for CODA’s Bundesliga debut.

For twenty two years from 1994 to 2016 the Kuppel (Dome) in Basel was a legendary concert venue and club. Never intended as a permanent fixture, the city’s government eventually had the Kuppel demolished, but so popular was the venue that eight years after its removal, the new Kuppel was inaugurated.
Architects Vécsey* Schmidt designed the new venue and worked closely with AV consultant, Walters Storyk Design Group (WSDG), who were appointed as the project’s acoustic engineering specialist.
WSDG specified a CODA Audio system for the venue’s concert stage, which was supplied and tuned by CODA Audio’s Swiss distributor Schallwerk. The choice of an arrayable point source best suited the compact round shape of the 600 capacity concert room.

APSi-Pro is a purpose built, high output progressive line source platform designed for installation projects that need predictable coverage, high SPL, and realworld cost efficiency.
It is a system - a modular frame of engineered blocks - not a single loudspeaker. APSi-Pro brings the performance philosophy of large modular linesource architectures into an installation friendly, budget sensitive format.
APSi-Pro began with a clear brief: deliver the benefits integrators expect from premium modular linesource solutions — scalable vertical architecture, consistent voicing, and longthrow capability — while removing unnecessary cost and logistical complexity. Rather than centering the design on one box, APSi-Pro is built from system that combine to form tailored arrays for each venue.

Each block is a predictable building element. Installers choose the blocks that match the coverage challenge and assemble them into a coherent curved linesource array. The result is the sonic behaviour and coverage predictability, delivered in a format that is easier to ship, rig, and budget for. APSi-Pro is ideal where performance matters but budgets and installation constraints are real.

Pro-S is a compact three -way arrayable point-source loudspeaker designed expressly for fixed installation environments that require wide vertical coverage, high output, and the ability to integrate seamlessly into scalable system architectures. While it shares the same core acoustic DNA as the APSi-Pro-D, Pro-S provides a 30° vertical dispersion, making it the ideal building block for short-throw zones, balcony reinforcement, nearfield coverage, and any installation where broader vertical reach is required without sacrificing clarity or control. Its acoustic engine is built around CODA’s Dual Diaphragm Coaxial Curved Wave Driver (DDC), which reproduces mid and high frequencies from a single coherent source. This driver couples into the magnetic InstaFit APS-COUPLER, forming a unified, pattern-controlled wavefront that maintains consistency across the entire array. As with all APSi-Pro modules, horizontal dispersion can be precisely tailored using interchangeable couplers, allowing system designers to match coverage to the architectural demands of
frequency section of the APSi-Pro-S mirrors the performance of the APSi-Pro-D, employing two 10-inch excursion neodymium drivers with carbon-fibre diaphragms for exceptional stiffness and low moving mass. These drivers are thermally bonded to a shaped aluminium baffle that also forms the cabinet’s reflex ports, implementing CODA’s Dynamic Airflow Cooling (DAC) technology. DAC actively extracts heat from the motor structures, increasing continuous power handling and significantly reducing power compression — a critical advantage in permanent installations where systems must operate at high output for extended periods. This ensures that the APSi-Pro-S frequency performance down to 50 Hz, even under demanding long-term operating

S is optimised for applications where a single module or a small number of modules must cover a large vertical area. It can be deployed on its own, used in compact arrays, or combined with D modules to create hybrid configurations that blend 10° and 30° elements. This flexibility allows system designers to construct arrays that follow the geometry of the venue, delivering smooth, predictable coverage from the front row to the back of the room. Although compact and visually discreet, the APSi-Pro-S is engineered as a true grade system, with rigging and accessories designed specifically for permanent deployment rather than

Traditional array frames require removing lower loudspeakers to access a module positioned higher in the array, resulting in unnecessary labour, extended downtime, and increased risk during maintenance. The APSi-Pro Array Keeper eliminates this issue entirely. Its mechanical design allows any individual loudspeaker — including APSi-Pro-S modules — to be removed, inspected, or replaced without disturbing the units beneath it, even when the system is fully installed. This capability is invaluable in theatres, clubs, houses of worship, and multipurpose venues where access is limited and maintenance windows

The APSi-Pro-D is a compact three -way arrayable point-source loudspeaker developed specifically for fixed installation environments where long-term reliability, predictable coverage, and scalable system design are essential. Its acoustic architecture is built around CODA’s Dual Diaphragm Coaxial Curved Wave Driver (DDC), which reproduces mid and high frequencies from a single coherent source. This driver feeds directly into the magnetic InstaFit APS-COUPLER, forming a unified, pattern-controlled wavefront that maintains consistency across the entire array. By selecting different coupler configurations, system designers can tailor horizontal dispersion to the room, choosing between 60°, 90°, 120°, or asymmetrical patterns of 75°, 90°, and 105°, ensuring precise coverage in complex architectural spaces.
Low-frequency reproduction is delivered by two 10-inch high-excursion neodymium drivers with carbon-fibre diaphragms, chosen for their stiffness, low moving mass, and ability to maintain clarity under sustained load. These drivers are thermally bonded to a shaped aluminium baffle that also forms the cabinet’s reflex ports, implementing CODA’s Dynamic Airflow Cooling (DAC) technology. DAC actively draws heat away from the motor structures, increasing continuous power handling and dramatically reducing power compression — a critical advantage in permanent installations where systems must operate at high output for long durations without performance degradation. The result is a compact enclosure capable of delivering controlled, impactful low-frequency performance down to 50 Hz.
Each APSi-Pro-D module provides a fixed 10° of vertical coverage and can be deployed individually or in vertical arrays. It integrates seamlessly with APSi Pro S modules, allowing designers to combine 10° and 30° elements to create throw, or hybrid arrays tailored to the venue’s geometry. Although compact, the APSi-Pro-D grade system, with rigging and accessory options optimised for permanent deployment rather than touring convenience.

The APSi-Pro Array Keeper eliminates this problem entirely. Its mechanical design allows any individual loudspeaker to be removed, inspected, or replaced without disturbing the units beneath it, even when the system is fully installed and operational. This capability is exceptionally valuable in theatres, clubs, houses of worship, and multipurpose venues where access is limited and maintenance windows are short. The Array Keeper ensures that long-term servicing is safe, efficient, and minimally disruptive — a genuine

True 3way architecture
A threeway design delivers exceptional speech intelligibility and musical clarity across the coverage area.
DDC - Advanced driver and waveguide integration ensures coherent summation and controlled vertical directivity across the array.
DAC - Thermal and airflow management maintain consistent performance at high SPL for extended periods.
Together these technologies let APSi-Pro behave like much larger, more expensive modular systems while remaining efficient, reliable, and installationready.
DDC (Dual Diaphragm Curved Wave Driver) At the heart of the APSi-Pro Series is a patented 8.75” and 9” Dual Diaphragm 10 degree or 30 degree Curved Wave Driver. The larger annular midrange diaphragm covers the frequency range 400 - 6500 Hz with a smooth, linear response. The extended diaphragm excursion of max. +/- 0.8 mm results in high output and increased power handling up to 1400 W peak. The ultralight annular diaphragm for the high range offers exceptional transient response with very high efficiency from 6 to 22 kHz. This distinctive new transducer was engineered to radiate a true coherent curved wave front from a rectangular piston without internal diffraction for superior dispersion control and high-fidelity sound.

The patented design is a result of extensive, dedicated research and development providing dramatic improvement in dynamic response, clarity and transparency.

Dynamic Airflow Cooling (DAC) The patented DAC technology usesthermal induction by utilising a single-piece aluminium construction, in turn preserving the sound. Putting an immense amount of power into a compact enclosure required a new enclosure design and a new thermal concept: the APSi-Pro front baffle and vents are made from aluminium with all drivers mounted into it.
These aluminium vents are optimised to maximise airflow, increasing the thermal capacity of the system. Applying more power increases the airflow in the vents, conducting more heat away from the drivers, and distributing that heat outside the enclosure. The DAC technology dramatically improves heat dissipation, doubling the power handling and the maximum SPL capability compared to a conventionally cooled system.
Vertical Dispersion APSi-Pro D projects energy further with its narrower angle output resulting in higher SPL for the longer throw section of an array, when used with narrow angle couplers.
APSi-Pro S has wider coverage, so slightly less SPL, especially when wide angle couplers are used.
An array is naturally level shaded without having to use multiple amplifier channels.

InstaFit Magnetic Couplers CODA solve the problem of properly summing the output of all drive units into a single, pattern controlled wavefront by the use of interchangeable Couplers. Loudspeakers using this technology have exceptional pattern control and consistent off-axis response, impossible to achieve with traditional driver layouts.
With Couplers, the output of all the drivers perform as a single source, while maintaining a perfectly uniform phase response regardless of which coverage pattern you use.
In APSi-Pro, changes between wide, narrow or asymmetric coverage are achieved easily with Quick Release Grilles and InstaFit magnetic couplers. You can order APSi-Pro with one dispersion suited to your installation, or order extra Couplers to allow flexibility for touring applications.

Each APSi loudspeaker is supplied with a pair of universal fixing plates that form the core of the system’s modular installation concept.
These plates allow any APSi product to be securely attached to another APSi element or directly to the flying frame, enabling a wide range of configurations without additional bespoke hardware. Whether the requirement is a compact two -box point-source cluster, a mixed-angle array, or a full system with an APSi-SUB, the same fixing plates provide a consistent, streamlined mounting method. Typical configurations are illustrated in Diagrams 1, 2, and 3

The Array Keeper (AK) is a new installation accessory for the APSi series.
Its purpose is simple but extremely valuable: it allows any single loudspeaker element in an installed APSi array to be removed for servicing without disturbing, disconnecting, or rerigging the rest of the array.
This solves one of the biggest practical challenges in fixed installations — maintaining a flown array without requiring a full system teardown.
