1. Can you introduce yourself in a few words?

I am a Software Engineer with over 15 years of professional experiences, though I starting software development almost another 15 years earlier.

I’ve worked across many industries: government, telecom, insurance and more recently finance.

I have always been interested in complex systems and in software performance and quality.

I am a smart contract developer since 5 years now. It’s complex and it also requires extremely high quality and performance. Smart contracts can not be deployed twice, and each machine instruction is costly.

2. What is your biggest success in the blockchain industry?

I would emphase on two achievements: building one of the biggest blockchain communities in Switzerland and developed a smart contract infrastructure which enable onchain compliance.

2.a Can you give us a technical overview of this success?

The onchain compliance layer (c-layer) is a complex set of smart contracts interacting together. Some oracles provides the link between the traditional world and the blockchain space.

One of the very interesting and fundamental properties we discovered while operating it, is that the compliance is not done anymore a posteriori. Smart contracts enable the compliance rules to be enforced and prevent any non compliant activities to even happened in the first place.

2.b What can it be used for and to whom can it be used?

It allows to build and operate fully compliant ERC20 tokens and any kind of legal agreements between two parties: equities, bonds, hard assets, structured products, derivatives, and much more!

It can be used by individuals who desires to manipulate legally enforceable assets and legal contracts.

It can be operated by any regulated entities interested in issuing assets, providing compliance or financial services.

It can also be used by our dear cryptocurrencies communities as they can operate it on behalf of a DAO: relying on a decentralized consensus rather than relying on the regulator rules.

2.c Where does your idea come from?

My first blockchain project was a decentralized exchange with which I won the SIX Hackathon in 2015. At that time, I was working for the Swiss Stock Exchange (SWX) and I was exploring new concepts and ideas for the blockchain space.

With this project, I was able to discover the two main key properties: Anything can be done as long you can describe it in very few steps and words It provides execution, safety and transparency.

Coming from the regulation side, it was obvious that this topic was one of the biggest challenges for public blockchain. And the approach I used for the decentralized exchange seemed very appropriate for addressing regulation limitations!

3. Do you have other successes?

Blockchain is about community first and foremost!

I am quite proud to have built along with friends, colleagues and partners, one of the biggest ecosystems in Switzerland with thousands of members: the Devchain User Group.

3.a Can you give us an overview of this success?

The core of our success comes from the fact that we always have been stay content driven.

We take pride to let developers and attendees to present and explain their most appreciated piece of codes or technologies. The content is always amazing and can even be the starting point for new projects!

We are very lucky to be surrounded by an amazing and dynamic community of developers, a powerful organizing team with Robert, Christian and our main sponsor Hortis which is offering very tasty pizza since day 1.

Lastly, an important part of every community is the regularity. Since 2017, we have been organizing a meetup every first Tuesday of each month. It’s not always easy for sure, we all have a quite heavy agenda sometimes, but with passion and efficiency, as a team, we are managing to build great things in a monthly basis, since almost 3 years now.

3.b Who can be interested?

The content targets mainly developers and technical profiles. We don’t want to be exclusive or elitist, our doors are open to everyone who wants to join and learn. We rather want to evangelize as much people as possible on the technology of the blockchains! We are inclusive.

4. Can you tell us how you got to the blockchain industry? Can you tell us a storytelling?

5. What is the future of your industry for you?

Larger institutions are now joining the topic. At some point, it will come mainstream. I do believe that it is too early as the technology is not mature yet: the scalability and the ease of security are not there yet.

There is also a very bad understanding of the general public. This is quite dangerous as it gives a really important power to scammers and other social engineering hackers.

6. Are you on new projects? new challenges? or focus on your current project, can you tell us about it?

I am currently working at making the compliance layer a standard. A token is only as good as the standard it used. The current layer version relies on ERC20 as it is one of the most known and used. But the compliance layer goes much further.

I am also very interested in governance topics and making the technology more ease to use and user friendly.

7. Do you have anything to add ? a message to convey? a request for help? collaboration?

I do deeply encourage anyone who is interested in tokenization and compliance to join our community in order to promote a single standard for the benefit of everyone.

The message I would like to convey, is, blockchain is fabulous concept where two persons together are equals to three!
