Welcome to 2015 Saturday 4th July “the small but perfectly formed festival in Cotteridge Park” From the tried and tested shopping trolley carnival floats to the brand new Circus Field. From the wow factor of the Main Stage to the weirdness of the new Orchard CoCoLounge.

If everyone puts at least £2 in a bucket that’s CoCoMAD paid for.

Delicious food, great crafts and our wonderful community. There is no other festival quite like CoCoMAD.

CoCoMAD is run by Friends of Cotteridge Park, a group of dedicated or foolish, volunteers. The festival is a big project and we always need more volunteers to help with the planning and to make sure the day runs smoothly.

You don’t need a ticket, just turn up, but remember CoCoMAD isn’t free it’s paid for by donations from you, your neighbours and the businesses that you use.

If you want to know more about Friends of Cotteridge Park or want to join the CoCoMAD team have a look at our website or follow us on twitter @CotteridgePark & facebook

FRIENDS OF COTTERIDGE PARK

Get Active in Your Community Set up in 1997 FoCP is the group of volunteers who work to ensure that Cotteridge Park is maintained as a great space for the whole community. FoCP organises events in the park like CoCoMAD and Fright Night, raises funding for the park and supports school and youth group visits. On average FoCP volunteers donate more than 150 hours a month doing daily litter picks and regular grounds maintenance supplementing the service provided by Birmingham City Council. Everyone who uses the park or lives nearby is welcome to join the group. Come and say “Hello” at the FoCP stall in the Main Field or get in touch by email info@cotteridgepark.org.uk www.cotteridgepark.org.uk FoCP is a charity registered in England and Wales (1150091) Thank you to CoCoMAD’s supporters:

Money, Money, Money! At CoCoMAD as many of the activities as possible are FREE – they are funded by sponsors and your donations. If everyone puts at least £2 in the buckets then CoCoMAD can continue to offer good value fun. You can make your donation online at www.cotteridgepark.org.uk and if you are a UK tax payer you can complete a gift aid form as well.

Welcome Back to the 20p Challenge

CoCoMAD has challenged the traders to have something for children on their stall for 20p – something to buy or a game to play. This way you can give your children a £1 or £2 and they can go shopping without breaking the bank.

Some of the stalls meeting the 20p challenge: Arts with Hearts BijouBeadBox The Co-operative Florist Crystal Hughes Photography Fossilcraft Hope for Justice Manadio Mommy Bear's Candles Selly Manor Museum Spangle & Dangle Sweetheart Designs Tuckshop Flowers Weoley Rangers

Look out for the 20p sign on 4th July to see who is taking part.

Donations to Cotteridge Park

The park needs your donations throughout the year to enable the events, activities & school visits to continue. Can you donate £2 a month to help the work keep going? FoCP wants to thank the friends and family of Sheila Thornton who made such generous donations in her name at her funeral. Sheila had been a staunch supporter of the park for many years & she is much missed. 9

E xpl o r e Active Parks Circus

Welcome to a beautifully bizarre experience that is FLOAT! This wonderfully whacky and imaginative story will take you on a journey of circus frenzy. You can expect to be immersed in a world of vivacious characters and vivid colours, filled with acrobats and aerialists, along with free circus workshops to bring CoCoMAD alive! But you can’t just sit and watch - FLOAT needs you to join in. Trapeze, juggle, tumble, wire walk, dangle from silk - see the show and have a go.

in the Millennium Forest School

Nature, bugs, plants, wood carving, camp fire, tree climbing, hammocks & dens. Not to mention the National Trust’s OakMobile.

Children’s Field

with Busy Parents Network & Hullaballoo Arts. Your favourite plumbing drum sculpture - making workshops, face painting, storytelling, music & drama for kids - and with the swings right there.

10

Creature Encounters “On your travels around CoCoMAD look out for Major Hopalot the world famous Astrobunny who is looking for a suitable launch site to test his new rocket “Big Carrot 3,” assisted by his erstwhile companion Ground Control the Grease Bunny. Their plan is to travel beyond the warren, and over the wall into Outer Space.

Camera Obscura

Light enters through a hole in the top of the camera and is focused on a screen on the bottom. But unlike a modern camera, the camera obscura does not create an image you can take away. You see the image by being inside the camera itself. The process is very simple but the effect is strangely magical. Seeing the world projected onto a flat surface while inside the machine itself is a delightful experience which never fails to bring a smile.

Acoustic Tent in the Glade 1:00pm - 7:00pm

Your chance to perform at CoCoMAD. Opening the show at 1pm is Cotteridge School Choir followed by an eclectic mix of emerging talent & established performers. Approved by Councils across the UK, Gristwood and Toms are the nation’s arboriculturalists.

There is no shortage of people and companies offering tree services. But choosing a company without the necessary skills and competence can lead to injury to people, prosecution, substantial fines or damage to property and the tree; not to mention irreparable harm to your reputation.

Gristwood and Toms have the professional skills, experience and national coverage to give you complete peace of mind when placing the care of your trees in our hands. We are the nations arboriculturalist.

PRS for Music licences the use of copyright music across the UK, giving businesses and organisations the legal permission they need to play the music they want. These licences ensure that music publishers, songwriters and composers are fairly rewarded with royalties so they can keep making music - and mean that we’re able to support music at events like this. Do you want to inspire children and young people, be creative, go on adventures, make new friends and have fun? We have a very busy growing scout group of children and young people from ages 6 - 18 years who want to come to Beavers, Cubs, Scouts and Explorers. We meet at a scout hut in the heart of Bournville. We need more adults to help run the different sections. We are a very active, creative, fun group which loves to go out and about and go on camp. The adults that help love to be there but due to the group getting bigger and some adults changing jobs etc. we need more adults to come and join our team. The adults are paid in friendship, laughter, love (we are all volunteers) and we can be flexible with people who work shifts etc. If you would like to know more please contact Ruth Tanner – group scout leader – on group@1stbournville.org.uk or 07745266421
