Mourning dove, harbinger of dawn and dusk, do you grieve with me? Palo Verde/Ocotillo/Joshua Tree, a child’s stick drawings in silver green; Oleander and Hibiscus, incongruous flashes of red; Stark, jagged horizon with delusions of nearness; Dry whispers of palms marching relentlessly down the avenues; Soft blue shadows stretching across empty arroyos. Glimpses of desert dreams seducing then calming the soul’s discontent.
