The good things were Breeze’s Surprise 75th Birthday at the Samsula Center, Chopper Time, my 50th High School reunion, the Freedom Ride, Bianca’s Birthday & more!!!

The bitter was the deaths of my dear friends Sweaty Mike and Sweet Lauren. I was very close to Mike, but after they did all they could do, the “C” got him. He was so miserable in the hospital and grouchy, and people were like, “He’s a butt!!!”, BUT what do you expect when you force a 40 year smoker, and throw him in a room to STOP cold turkey. As a former smoker (1985) I know how hard it was to STOP. He begged us all for a cigarette or to bring him one, but we were warned not to, for many obvious reasons, but I hate he passed away fiening for what made him happy.

And sweet Lauren, only in her mid 30’s, unexpectedly passed away at home. It was a tough loss for all of us, but for her partner Danny (11 years) and her parents Tommy and Linda, it was super hard. I believe every heart at the grave side service, (Thanks Rev. Al) was super moved by seeing the parents, Dan and 100’s of Lauren young friends weeping tears of sorrow, hurt but mostly tears of huge love that we all had for her. She was a big part of the motorcycle, Chopper scene in our area and will be GREATLY missed. GBNF Lil Sister!!!

I will have a Celebration Of Life for Mike at my house on November 12th, at 4pm. If you would like to say something at this, you are welcome too. Also, we will provide some food, but outside of soft drinks/ water, bring what you want to drink. There will be an Egg Nog toast made to his life, as he loved Egg Nog & Sailor Jerry’s!!!

October was also the month that we lost my sister Deanie (2019) and Brother JW (2020) and all month I thought of them and the impact they had on so many lives. Just like Mike and Lauren these two are so, so missed by friends and family, and me!!! Big Love, Cochise Chops 7

Who would have “thunk” it? Me going to my 50th year High School Reunion, but I lived that long and I did attend this great night of Food (very good) & Fellowship.

Some of these folks, I had not seen since 1972, except through FacePuke!!! The picture above is of two classmates that was there, and the lady was also in school with me at Hebbardsville Elementary, her daddy was the Principle!!!

So he was an older man, then. He owned a few big trucks, but they were older, he had trouble leasing them, expensive breakdowns, and constant repairs and driver turnover. He wasn’t making it, and sold them all.

With some money in his pocket, and bit sly and greedy, he bought into a small corner bar. It was a rather rough shod biker bar, with less than a good reputation locally. But it was in the black, making money and usually busy on weekends.

But this guy wanted more from it, and he tried everything to build up the business.

Yeah, try dancing go go girls in cages, hard rock bands, country music and line dancing, pool tournaments, and even karaoke. Nothing worked, the place was running in the red each month.

Then he hosted a biker run, a stop on a poker run. The place made some profit, and all they did was sell beer, fix up a used digital juke box and open the doors.

He watched as the biker crowd returned, they spent money, policed them selves, and brought in the money he’d been missing. After all he’d done, he said the bikers were the best business he’d ever had.

He repaved the broken parking lot, and installed better lighting, and stepped back to a biker bar.

THREE DOG NIGHT - JOY TO THE WORLD Remembering HOYT AXTON (Mar 25, 1938 – Oct 26, 1999), American singer-songwriter, guitarist, and actor. He became prominent in the early 1960s, establishing himself on the West Coast as a folk singer with an earthy style and powerful voice. As he matured, some of his songwriting became well known throughout the world. Among them were JOY TO THE WORLD, “The Pusher”, “No No Song”, “Greenback Dollar”, “Della and the Dealer”, and “Never Been to Spain”.

Hoyt Axton wrote JOY TO THE WORLD for an animated TV special called The Happy Song that never materialized. Axton, who was a popular country singer-songwriter from Oklahoma, pitched it to the group while he opened for them on a tour. The group didn’t think much of this song when they recorded it, tacking it on to the album because they needed one more song to complete it. The song ended up being a massive hit and stayed six weeks at #1 on the US Hot 100.

The opening lines of this song, “Jeremiah was a bullfrog, was a good friend of mine. Never understood a single word he said, but I helped him drink his wine,” are part of some wonderful song meaning speculation.

A common interpretation is that Axton’s bullfrog is the prophet Jeremiah from the Bible, and we’ve seen at least one sermon that makes the case that the song represents God’s desire to unite all people in happiness (the bullfrog, with his distinctive call that stands out in nature, is God’s voice in this interpretation).

Axton, however, told a different story about the famous lyric. With the chorus and melody already written, he added some placeholder lyrics where he intended to write proper verses. What came out of his mouth was that famous first line.

Axton explained in the Oregon News-Review: “Jeremiah was an expedient of the time. I had the chorus for three months. I took a drink of wine, leaned on the speaker, and said ‘Jeremiah was a bullfrog.’ It was Chops 45

meaningless. It was a temporary lyric. Before I could rewrite it, they cut it and it was a hit.”

So it was that these nonsense placeholder lyrics became part of rock history. Religious interpretations rarely take into account that Axton was more of a hell-raiser than a student of the Bible: He was a heavy drinker and pot smoker with a passion for fast cars, women and motorcycles. By the time he wrote “Joy to the World,” he was twice divorced with hundreds of speeding tickets on his record.

Thanks to the opening line in this song, frogs became a big part of the band’s marketing. Frogs adorned their press kits and some clothing items, and they even had a 6-foot frog suit that some poor guy had to wear to promote the band.

Being a Man!!!

Nate Saunders gave me a book a few years back by John Eldridge, “Wild At Heart”, Discovering The Secret Of A Man’s Soul.

I have read it and re-read it. I have quoted it so many times, why? Because IT is the truth about men and it fits my way of thinking of what today’s man should be.

I’m asked often, “Why are you so hard on some guys? Why are you always saying things like, get your testicles out of your wife’s purse?”

Why? Because I want to see a revival of real man in America. It’s there, but many times it stays hidden, because.........

Because they don’t want to be a chauvinist? Call it what you want, but men made up Braveheart, Gladiator, The Magnificent Seven.........IT’S men that are to be on the Front Line, not women. Can women fight, of course, but history tells that it is man’s job to get out there and lead in the war, with his woman as his ally.

Why is it hidden? Because a husband wants to show their women that she is equal to him? Which can never happen, per design. As females were born in the beauty of Eden, and men were birthed from the dirt.............big difference!!! I am not saying that the ladies can’t be equal in many things, but they will never be a man by creative design.

As the Nam Vets and early baby boomers are dying off, you don’t see as many men today as in the past. I guess there really is such a thing as Old School, and it’s rapidly passing away.

I was blessed enough to be raised in a time when men were men, like those who served in WWII or who fought in Korea (the forgotten war).

I was raised like this book reads. Here are some of the quotes from John’s book, enjoy.

I use to go to Ft. Myers to hang out ............ ......with a bunch of young cats back 10 or 15 years ago. They built and rode old iron. They stayed at my house during the Daytona events, and I came to love them and the way they lived and rode.

Anyway, once while over there, they kept telling me how fast a couple of their Ironheads were. So this one time I was on an EVO rigid that my son in law had built. Some how I ended up with it. I was running an EV-46 cam in my old EVO bagger and loved the way it performed, so some how I ended up with another one of those cams, and I dropped it in the EVO Chopper.

That thing would FLY!!! That’s all I did to it. It had no topend, it just kept pulling and rolling. I passed a brother on the way home from Leesburg once and he was on a brand new Deuce. He said when I went by him he was running 124 MPH, and I was still pulling away.

So here I am in a pack with these Youngbloods, who BTW are all Middle Aged now, and I decided I was going to bust right through the middle of them and call them out. I came to a long stretch of highway, we were running about 60. The 2 Sportys were in front of me and I was running in slot #3, and of course someone was beside me and 4 or 5 behind.

I saw my opportunity, so I dropped a gear and split them. My grand daughter had tore the lining out of the old helmet I had on, and at high speeds it would fall back on my had and when I turned sideways, it covered my eyes, so when I went for it I didn’t hear them and couldn’t see them, so I just hung it out.

All of a sudden I hear a siren, and I pull over. Unbeknownce to me as soon as I stabbed it, a Sheriff’s car was right beside me. All the boys thought I had lost my mind. As I pulled over, and the patrol car pulled up beside me with, (Thank God), two older officers in it, I looked back and all the other riders had stopped about 1/2 mile away from where I was.

I just knew they were either laughing at me or thought I was a fugitive from justice and was running. They were not doing either, as they were actually betting each other whether I would talk my way out of this Chops 52

one, which I was famous for.

I thought, “I’m going to jail”! The cop on the passenger’s side rolled his window down and asked, “What in Hell are you doing?” I thought I’d tell him the throttle stuck, but instead I told him what I wrote above. Now it was about 110 degrees in the shade, and so they both looked at me then at each other, as to say, “It’s to hot for all this”.

Then the driver said, “Well, slow that thing down and watch over those young men back there. Set an example for them.”.

BAM, I’m cool now, amen! As far as those youngsters back behind me, all I’ll say is someone or two lost some betting money. HaHaHa!!!

I have NEVER liked a bully or bullies!!!

Some people are bullies, yet some don’t see it, only because they have never experienced their “friends” in action, and I haven’t much, BUT when I was bullied, it was from someone much larger than me or someone just showing off in front of their peers, so they find someone to mess with, mostly because they have “back up”!

After their posse leaves, they calm down real fast or get “out of Dodge”, but I don’t remember. Many bikers are like that, especially if they are wearing a patch. I’ve seen humble, good people become azzholes as soon as they sew that patch on. The old saying is, “The patch don’t make the man, but the man makes the patch........”, so the next time someone patches in (especially the smaller clubs and even some Christian clubs, you need to tell them this), before they run into the wrong person.

I try my best to just smile when I am out and about, but I’m always watching, from the 1%ers to the Motorcycle Ministries, and all in between, and though I don’t bother anyone, there are still a few that “swell up on me”! I just laugh and walk away, until I am pushed over the line, and I have been.

I’ve always been for the under dog, and through that I’ve made many friends, that not one else pays attention too. From elementary school up until now, I have tried to make those that don’t feel welcome, welcomed. I, like many, have a circle of friends and I try to keep it small, but I always have an open door into the circle for those who are looking for someone to hang with. This has made me some great and forever friends, with several becoming brothers/sisters.

I don’t say that to make me look good, but as a point of sharing with you that there are people, just like you, that despise bullies and love the under dogs and want to be a friend to the friendless, so keep your eyes open, watch who seems excluded or are picked on, and put yourself in their shoes. Now, reach out and touch someone’s life. You may be the one sent into that person’s way to help them to feel better about themselves and then to pass that love on to others, thanks!

Happy Veteran’s Day US Army 1973-1975 Be sure to recognize those who served this great country, especially those who served during the many conflicts, we’ve been a part of it.

Thank you brothers and sisters for being available to serve in the USofA Military.

And for those who are still serving, keep it real and please protect us from all terriost both foreign and domestic.

His family stood in the chilli air for almost 2 hours to watch our plane take off, because they are just that way, patient and loving!!!

This is a picture of the very first automobile to travel from Florida City to Key West entirely by car! Imagine how long and bumpy that ride was! After 23 years of operations, the Florida East Coast Railway company went bankrupt following the Labor Day Hurricane of 1935. This presented a fantastic opportunity for the State of Florida as they were able to purchase the entire railroad with all of its land, easements, and bridges for just $640K which equates to a mere $13.8 million dollars in today’s money.

To put better into perspective how cheap that is, the State of Florida just paid $41 million dollars to repair a 2.2 mile span of the old 7 mile bridge, JUST to repair it!
