The Blue Plate Special/Shovelhead Show was off the Chain!!! Karin, Al and the Boot Hill Saloon on Main Street was the best host we could have asked for. BH supplied the crowd with one keg of FREE beer, along with 150 burgers/sandwiches & chips, (that married up very well with Bianca’s Nationally known Bean Dip), that was well received by all who attended. I know we ran out of FREE food but it was plentiful from 2pm till 4pm, like advertised. (Some people were waiting & complaining about wanting the freebies, as early as 11am, and a couple made butts of themselves, but we overcame and satisfied everyone, or they got ran off, LOL!!!) Speaking about the Show/Party, (in reality this was a customer’s appreciation gig from the Boot & CHOPS!!!), we had “63” Local Shovels there, with about 30 more Blue Plates (your bike has to be at least 30 years old to be eligible for that license plate), and probably another “100” bikes lining all of Main St., the parking lot on the West corner of Main & Peninsula, in other words, they were everywhere. So approximately 200 bikes, with about 350 people attended our little soiree! Thank you all! And just like last year, I had a few say, people really show up for the FREE stuff, which I countered with, NAH, they showed up because they love Sugar Baby, Sister B & CHOPS!!! PERIOD!!! This will be an annual event. so if you have a 2023 calendar handy, mark Labor Day, as CHOPS Blue Plate Special Show at The Boot!!! I didn’t take many pics, just several videos, but I figure I can dig up a few for this issue!!! AGAIN, we thank you & love you all. Then the following Wednesday morning, Willie “Da Bossman” Jones, the owner of Tropical Tattoo and I pulled out for a trip to the Smoke Out in Salisbury, NC. God’s Corner Dear Cochise, I’ve been reading CHOPS for a long time and yes, even God’s Corner. There is so much about God & Jesus that I don’t understand, & you’ve helped me a lot, but I just don’t understand why the Jesus thing, isn’t believing in God enough? Well, friend the Bible says in James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble. This tells us many believe in God, even those that were cast from Heaven, but yet they tremble, or are scared, why? Because they know that’s not enough to get back to God. They understand the plan that was laid out for all creation. That plan is Jesus Christ. I want to say, I don’t understand it completely myself. I still question His motive even after 39 years of studying the Bible and walking by faith. Some say His plan is a fairy tale, or unrealistic and some say it’s just stupid, I do not adhere to any of that, but I do get how a person can feel that way. It all boils down to FAITH. The Bible is a Book of Faith!!! Period! The New Testament is definitely to be read with and by faith, believing it really is God speaking to us through the Holy Spirit, leading men to scribe those 27 Books in the NT!!! They wrote as they were lead by the Spirit of the Father. Without having that faith, you will never get the plan, or understand it. So the plan of Salvation, or “making your peace with God” is outlined in the Bible. It’s ALL about Jesus, plus nothing, minus nothing if you want to get to Heaven. You don’t have to 100% understand it, but just believe it, AND if it’s just a fairy tale, who cares? What have you lost? But what if it is correct? And a person rejects His way, he’s not going to make it. It’s all BY FAITH!!! READS Roman Chapter 10 in the New Testament, especially verses 9, 10, & 13!!! year I went. I never made it to the event when it was moved to Rockingham, NC. But anyway, I really enjoyed being back in Salisbury, at the fair grounds and at the Smoke Out 2022. The crowd was smaller than before, but I personally liked it, as I got to talk to so many people, as in the past, it was impossible. It reminded me of an old fashion Family Reunion, from the moment we pulled up, seeing Mr. Davis greeting people at the front gate, to seeing Jeff & Donny, the former owners of Sucker Punch Sallys. They have each went their own way after selling that business, and both appear to be doing very well, and still great people, both in the industry/lifestyle as builders and as just great people in general. As we rode around the oval concrete path, we ran into one after another old friend, and yes several from here in the Daytona area, like Ray of Copper Top Choppers and Bill Dodge of Bling Cycles. The Shadetree Racing guys from KY were there, as was Steve from Steel City Choppers and so many more. Chris and Heather Callen (Cycle Source Magazine) were GREAT hosts and did an Awesome job. I was so proud of my friends. The way they carried themselves, not with confusion, but with confidence. They stayed on point with the games, which was bad azz as well as the shows. After checking into our motel, (yep motel, we are over primitive camping, especially when you don’t drink, and can’t pass out from the booze), we walked across the parking lot to a Mexican Restaurant, a meal I had been craving. I wanted some of that white cheese they put on the burritos, so I ordered a meal that was topped with it, plus I ordered a big bowl just to dip the chips in, as Willie went for the HOT stuff, which set him on fire. I don’t like spicy, but I love(d) that white cheese, so I tore it up, FORGETTING I was lactose intolerant. OH MY, for the next 16 hours I just Bubbled, ......Page 14 Chops 10

But these 2 hired us as body guards at the Smoke Out, as they were VIPs and needed our help getting through the crowds of girls and such!!! HaHaHa Chops 11

and stayed in the bathroom. So when we got back to the room, I took a nap that lasted for the rest of the evening and much of the next day, LOL. Of course my “buddy” Willie was down in the sitting area eating breakfast, started telling the story about the cheeses and me, which started out as a tad factual, BUT by the next day (Friday), the WHOLE Smoke Out crowd had heard of my dilemma and was laughing as I walked by. Somehow, the story had gotten blown up, (as bad as the men’s room did HaHaHa), to the point of why my Nick Name here in Daytona (which is NOT TRUE) is Goat Cheese, because that’s the ONLY cheese I can eat, blah, blah, blah..............I owe you one or two or three Bossman!!! LOL It was all in fun, but it was definitely a “tense” 12 + hours. Friday’s weather was the BEST, but Saturday the rain came. We woke up to it, but as we watched the radar we saw a break for us to cut out and head South. I can say, “WE DID NOT WANT TO LEAVE”, but 550 miles of rain, NO WAY. It was like God parted the rain clouds for us and we rode dry, until we got on Hwy 301 off of Hwy 601, then we ran about 70 miles of hard rain, the kind Forrest Gump talked about in his movie & his time in Nam. So we stayed in Statesboro, GA that night and finished up our adventure on Saturday. It was good to be home, but this was a great ride & to me, that’s what it’s all about, the ride. The party was just the icing on the cake. I am looking forward to the Smoke Out 2023!!! ~ Cochise Highlights Of Our Trip: Just riding! Good fellowship with a good friend/brother! Seeing many, many old friends in person rather than on social media, for me it was seeing and hugging Squeaky & JW, old LOM brothers! Talking/listening to Mr. Davis! Shooting the bull in the motel lounge area! The Legend/Legacy Bike Show! (For me), all the folks coming up to ask me how I was feeling now, and how good it was to see me! (A couple told me they heard I had passed on, maybe close, but not yet, LOL!) Me buying some CBD gummies to help with my right hand (psoriatic arthritis) swelling up, and it had THC in it, along with some suave Will bought. All I can say is, we were like two 17 year old boys sitting in the basement acting the way many acted when they 1st smoked some weed. It WAS funny!!! Chops 14

I am not from here, but our Main St. where I’m from looked like this, minus the motorcycles, as I am sure many of your hometowns did as well back then. You may remember me writing a couple of months ago of a young man who took his own life, because of receiving an extreme prison sentence, with my point being, “People Can Change”!!! The problem I see here, and I’m sure it’s in many places, is people give up on others because of something they heard about a person, so they cut them off, and STOP giving them a shot of proving themselves, that they have changed. They are judged and condemned by many. Do you give up on others just on the word of what someone has told you, or do you truly believe people can change?
