Sweet support for Daffodil Day T
his group of tiny tots and their teachers from Lollipops Coatesville on Glenmore Road, made an extra effort to help fundraise on Daffodil Day. They could have chosen easier ways to contribute, but centre manager Jodi Norton says they all wanted to do something extra special and decided to hold a bake sale on Friday, 31 August. Visitors and parents dropping off children were all tempted by the array of treats which included some real Kiwi classics. Lolly cake, chocolate chip cookies, cupcakes and afghans were all on offer, decorated in daffodil yellow. Jodi says many of the children

were involved in baking with their teachers throughout the weeks leading up to Daffodil Day. "We also had some wonderful contributions from parents and families," she says. "Daffodil Day was a good opportunity for our children to learn that their hard efforts and the money raised from these efforts and sales, was going to help others in need and how nice it can be to give rather than receive. It also created for them an understanding about helping our wider community and giving to those in need," says Jodi. After a busy day of fundraising and selling their yummy baked goods, the children raised an impressive $352.70 for the Cancer Society.
