Ag Day 2020: Take a bow!

lthough Ag Day 2020 was a lowerkey version of Coatesville School's annual event, it was actually a full-on triumph. Mother Nature helped by delivering perfect weather from the start on Saturday, 17 October, and the dry field made it easy for those showing, judging and watching the animals. The Ag Day T-shirt, modelled above by junior students, was a sell-out success. This year's design was a composite effort by Peyton Hart and Louie Zaloum and featured animal-themed Red Band gumboots and a flowery sheep under an umbrella. As usual, bright coloured ribbons fluttered on the plant stand, around the necks of prized animals and trailed off a few proud parents. Up in the

classrooms, an impressive array of rural traditions showed a breadth of learning and some awesome local talent. For those with a sweet tooth, walking though this year's cake stall felt like a trip to Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory and the co-op area was stocked with loads of local produce. The silent auction was another success, with donations from local businesses and families helping to boost the important fundraising total. The event is organised each year by the Friends of the School who once again delivered a fantastic, fun-filled day for the children. They also managed to continue an important local tradition in spite of uncertainty about the changing Covid-19 Alert Levels. Everyone involved should take a bow.
