Dressed to impress: Coatesville Cubs in their Halloween costumes

othing says Halloween like spotting a witch, the Grim Reaper, a devil, Curious George, an Angry Bird and Buzz Lightyear in your neighbourhood, not to mention a spaniel wearing a mask. Dressing up proved excellent fun for Coatesville's Cubs, and this group of 10, including two parents and a dog, attended the trick or treat event held in Riverhead on Tuesday, 31 October. After arriving at the Riverhead tennis courts, the Cubs were handed a map showing the Halloween-friendly addresses in Riverhead that were happy to receive trick-or-treaters. Coatesville Cub Leader Jacky McCoy says the kids scarpered at top speed to start knocking on doors. Jacky says that although the group enjoyed the whole event, there was one particular highlight. "The kids really loved the haunted house on Great North Road where a man was dressed as Frankenstein and measured their arms," she says. Naturally, the resourceful Coatesville Cubs had a trick up their sleeves if they needed it. Rumour has it they were going to wrap up letterboxes and trees in toilet paper if they had to, but since no one asked, their night was all about treats!
