oatesville is finally on the public transport map with the arrival this week of the 126 bus service between Westgate and Albany. The 126 is the third bus route in Rodney to be added to the public transport network in as many months. The others are the 128 from Helensville to Hibiscus Coast and the 998 from Wellsford to Warkworth. All three services have been entirely funded by the Rodney Transport Targeted Rate introduced last year. The RTTR supports and funds transport services identified as a priority by the Rodney community. The 27km-long 126 route includes 26 bus stops and on average takes Westgate Westgate

41 minutes from Westgate to Albany. Two buses operate along the route between 6am till 7pm seven days a week and 8pm on weekdays. At this stage there is only one stop in Coatesville, on either side of the road at the bottom on Glenmore Road. Until now, these stops have been used by the school buses servicing the area. Local Board member Louise Johnston says more stops may be added over time depending on the demand. Since the route ends at Albany Bus Station, passengers can use the 126 as a feeder service to catch city-bound buses without needing to park at Albany Park n Ride. However, no parking will be available

The zones and prices outlined below show AT HOP card holders get the best value, with a ride from Coatesville to Albany bus station (Zone 1) costing $1.95 for an adult and $1.05 for a secondary school student. Passengers paying cash will pay close to double that price. Those wanting to check timetables online can do so at www.AT.govt. nz/JourneyPlanner. There's also a free App called AT Mobile that lets you see the real-time location of the bus on the route. But for old school passengers who prefer a hard copy of the timetable, turn to page 2. A timetable is also posted at the bus stop. 
