The major concern of thesis design was of present day pollution. Which is responsible for many health problems in the urban areas.

Due to pollution problem not only humans but animals and birds were also suffering from this problem.

The simple way to reduce pollution from is to grow more trees and more plants. But in metro cites there were not that much place available to grow plants or trees on land and land is limited source.

Project of the Month Architectural Design Thesis : EMERALD ISLE Mixed - Used High- Rise, Powai, Mumbai, Maharashtra Amanraj Sinh Parmar| 5th year| 10th Semester| CAID, Vasad

Idea were emphasized on integration of plants in skyscraper design which play a vital role for the energy conservation by the building as well as improving the living quality into these vertical cities.

The amalgamation of nature with tall building is the prototype building for a new forma to architectural biodiversity which focuses not only on human beings but also on the relationship between humans and other living species.

The concept behind the amalgamating nature with tall building, that of being a“ home for trees that also houses humans and birds”, defines not only the urban and technological characteristics of the project but also the architectural language and its expressive qualities.

Career Advancement Cell of SVIT, Vasad has signed an MOU with Exponent Consultancy services (ECS). The cell has organised an Introductory Webinar on “Path to International success through quality and affordable higher eduaction” by Ms. Niketa Dedhia.

SVIT celebrated the 75th Independence Day on 15th Aug 21’ with full enthusiasm. Students and faculties performed songs, speeches, dance, and poems. The whole event took us back to the 19th century national nostalgia.

Council Visit

on Campus...

On 17th and 18th Aug ’21 there was Council of Architecture visit in the CAID campus. The inspection went for 2 days, in online and offline mode. The result of which was that CAID, SVIT bagged 80 seats for the year 2021-2022.

Jury Day’s_ Final Year| 10th semester

Final year students had their Thesis jury at the campus. Multidisciplinary knowledge was shared

by Prof. Jasmine Goel and Ar. Hitesh Modi in the architectural & research discourse.

Architectural Thesis Kalashetra : The Cultural Art Center, Gurugram Manav N Agrawal| 5th year | 10th semester| CAID, Vasad

The role of the culture in humankind is between creating & adapting social structures and power.

The organized social behavior empowers self- articulations and investigation of the community & people. The Indian culture reflects a diversity of religions, societies, traditions, and dialects that expressed the metaphor of our growth from historical times to the present adaptation of culture.

The main idea was to select this area as my major concern to understand our Indian culture as a whole. Analyzing the spatial characteristics and correlation of traditional knowledge, later adapting its concept for contemporary reflections with architectural design ideas.

The Kalashetra was taken as my architectural design project, the proposed site is located in Gurugram sector 53 under the proposal by the ministry of culture, ICCR, and other non-profit organizations.

The Haryana urban development authority proposed a site of 7.92 acres for designing a cultural art center as a state and city identity.

The Kalashetra complex had proposed an art gallery, sculpture studio, workshop for artists, library, exhibition hall, dance and music centers, meeting or media hall, administrative blocks, guest house, cafeteria, dormitories, shopping complex, and the auditorium.

Design Thesis Learning Community Center, Nashik, Maharashtra Raj Kajal Dinesh| 5th Year | 10th semester | CAID, Vasad

The learning community centre is in village Anjaneri located near Nashik, Maharashtra.

The main aim of the community centre was to encourage education of Katkari tribe and also for the people and farmers of Anjaneri. Basically, it is learning for allfarmers, children and women of the area.

The total site area is 12.76 acres from which only 1.09 acres is build-up and the remaining site is dedicated for experimental farming and forest which can also connect children to nature. The classrooms are arranged in clusters forming courtyards and passages connected to another cluster which opens to airy Amphitheatre.

The Amphitheatre is creating a focus for the campus which is an open classroom for all. For encouraging tribal education all around Anjaneri a mini edubus is designed for promoting it, which caters all the modern requirements of digital education and all the physical aspects can be taught through the natural surroundings around the village as Anjaneri is famous for trekking.

Building Smart Urbanism Instead of Smart Cities, A case of Vadodara

Shortlisted by Council of Architecture (COATRC) for National Awards of Excellence in Post Graduate thesis in Architecture-2021.

Runner-up position at National level Thesis Mentor: Prof. Vishal Shah, Urban Designer, Sarvajanik College of Engineering and Technology, Surat in City Thesis was focused on improvements to the urban fabric and attempts to rationalize the form of the CBD with the new in a sustainable fabric.

The use of architectural, planning and design elements at the intra-urban and neighborhood levels to reinforce urban form has often involved intensive attempts to harmonies the built environment with local and regional environmental realities. The sustainable urban form generation concepts will enhance the fabric by high density concentration, mixed land use, ecological enhancement, economic growth and sustainable transportation that are derived from its form.

The project was critically evaluating with the present proposal by central government and proposes new strategies through holistic planning to bridge the gaps in terms of strategic ground level interventions for city. The development done by our governments under this mission are basically present infrastructural need based issues as a short term intervention Whereas, smart city mission aims for sustainable and long term solution. Hence, such infrastructural development should be done considering the existing & future urban fabric.

The Approach majorly addressing 2 factors that is maximum utilization of land & place making incorporating the change in by-laws by achieving maximum F.S.I and proper Open Spaces. The use of F.S.I allows addressing the increasing globalization & urbanization. ABD Area will be the destination that give an identity and image to the communities, and that help to attract new residents, businesses, and investment. The concept for the urban fabric is that of ‘varying porosity’, using a transforming grid system to locate different conditions ranging from an open field with small free-standing retail unit to and dense cluster of larger commercial spaces.

The conclusion of the project was about deriving the urban form & guiding principles for maximum land utilization focusing on sustainability which drives all other infrastructural development for Vadodara city under smart city mission.

Smart Urbanism commits them with integrated, sustainable and participative urban growth.

Smart growth refers to various policies and planning practices that create more compact and multimodal communities, in contract to sprawl, which results in more dispersed and automobile-dependent development. Smart city will also focus on big city infrastructure which will revolve around the form and ICT.

Teaching Architectural History Traditional knowledge, religious expression makes our mental framework to look at things differently.

How do we appreciate geniuses of our ancestors?...

Teaching history should be approached with a holistic and integrated approach. Integrated approach can be the world around us, the city, local architecture, local language, and local knowledge. History was humanity subject of 18th century, the subject which connected socio-cultural aspects to architecture, through buildings.

“A Paradigm shift” : It’s not always what is recorded is history, sometimes our grandparents house or our house (if itsold) for that matter or our learnings from the past etc. can also be a vocal history.

“Concept of teaching history should lie in every aspect of life we are connected with and continuous dialogue between past and the future” by E H Carr.

We cannot term something as progress or something as regress, History records change and it’s inevitable. It’s should be our attitude for teaching history and to make people aware about what we have inherited.

Are we to conserve it, are we to compliment it , or are we to ignore it.

What is our responsibility for the generations to come?.......

An Inclusive Urban Planning -”Ecology & Design both share something common” The rapid urbanization brings opportunities to new urban developments, but it also generates serious loss of arable land and degradation of place specific ecosystems as well as social cultural changes to the urban populations.

Such a cause widely isolates relationship between cultural and natural components of the place pertaining to specific quality.

Therefore the urban development goals to be prepared with inclusive planning concern of ecological aspect as one of the important values associated in urban process. The ecological aspects includes, landscape ecological principles, ecosystem services, ecological structure and its function and suitability study. To improve the ecology of cities, inclusiveness towards landscape ecological connectivity need to be consider in formulation of urban planning schemes.

An edge, is described as the outer portion of a patch where the environment differs significantly from the interior of the patch. For example road passing along with sayaji baug and M.S. University campus represent high interaction of public transport and parking pockets gives temperature difference from the inner areas of both the patches.

The Patch, corridor matrix approach act as a solid rigorous guidelines for urban landscape and demonstrate the relative connectivity values at different scale of landscape from macro level to macro level. Therefore, ecological knowledge that informs design attributes and also educate to practice design in continuous exchange with ecology, embraced with a core definition of design as a cultural action.
