Good evening and welcome!
My name is Christine Nguyen and I have the distinct honor to serve as the co-chair of Coastline’s Scholarship Committee along with faculty member, Dr. Elaf Farahat and Tom Boscamp.
“To achieve extraordinary things we should act, as well as dream; design, as well as believe” our students have earned this scholarship because of their diligent work, enthusiasm, devotion, belief, and support from those around them. This scholarship is just the beginning of their prosperity, and we are proud that Coastline College is a part of that journey.
As a college, we are thankful for the generosity of our donors and the diligent work of our Foundation, who have provided approximately $325,393 in scholarship funding this year. As a result of their generosity and hard work, we are delighted to award 236 scholarships this year.
Today, we celebrate you, the people who inspire you to be here, and the hardship you have taken and continue to take to achieve your dreams.

Thank you for joining us to celebrate our Coastline Scholars. I am delighted to honor and to celebrate our students, acknowledge their families, and extend deep appreciation to our generous donors and the Coastline College Foundation who make this possible.
I extend my heartfelt congratulations to our student scholars. You have persevered, put in the effort, stayed awake late at night studying, writing papers, and balancing personal and professional obligations while pursuing your academic goals during one of the most stressful times in our history. By receiving a scholarship award, we know that you have done a remarkable job for which you should be proud. You have demonstrated leadership skills and conducted volunteer work at the college and in your community. You are an exemplary role model for others.
Thank you to the families and friends of our student scholars. Your love and support have sustained our students through the most difficult times. You have motivated them to stay on track and inspired them to keep working towards their life’s goals. Congratulations to you and your scholarship award winner.
Scholarships provide critical financial support to students who otherwise could not afford a college education. Scholarships greatly impact our students’ lives, including their ability to stay in college. This year, scholarship donors include the National Science Foundation, Associated Student Government, Academic Senate, APIA Scholars, as well as community organizations and donors who have established scholarships at Coastline College.
