With a new owner, fresh management and renowned Chef Daniel Capper at the helm, The Springs in Peats Ridge is turning heads in a very good way.
We are always a fan of a changing menu, it indicates a chef who truly cares about using in-season produce and supporting local farmers. Our current menu picks are the Korean fried chicken wings with Gochujang glaze to start, followed by the Confit Duck with beetroot, pearandanisejus.

Images supplied by The SpringsChanneling our inner Melbourne vibes, the Coast has three uber cool laneways and yummy nearby eats to check out
We get it - the local cafe or park down the road is an easy go to, the barista knows your order and you’re likely to run into your pals. But why not grab those pals and head out exploring some new hoods and the lanewaysoftheCentralCoast.
Laying between Voodoo Tattoo and Raine & Horne Gosford is the Mann Street Laneway. Here you’ll find what used to be an intimidating alley transformedintoapublicworkofart, andfeelingahelluvalotsafer.
As part of the Safer Cities initiative, local artist Brent Smith worked with the team at JC Entertainment and Events to bring the laneway to life withthisinviting, brightinstallation.
Sustenance options nearby include quite possibly the best bánh mì on the Coast at An Lac Bakehouse and our coffee pick would be from The GoodBitsCompany.
There’snodoubtingthetimetoshine for the laneways of Wyong is during the annual Love Lanes Festival held in the town centre every February, when they come alive with arts, music, entertainmentandenergy.
But, you haven’t missed the boat if you didn’t make it to the festival this year, outside of when it takes place, we reckon they still deserve a visit. Wyong’s CBD is home to some of the Coast’s most awesome public artworksonpermanentdisplay.
Not to mention, the plethora of great eats and drinks to choose from. Our picks: DuckDuckMoose for brews, a cheeky bevvy at Jerry Sent Me and the not to be missed Chick’n Korean Fried! The latter two both housed at theChapmanBuildingprecinct.
We’ll be honest, we’re not sure this is officially a laneway by way of town planning, but it’s a super cute spot to bringthefamforbrekkyorbrunch.
Nestled alongside The Galleria and Lords of Pour Cafe in Ettalong is a beautiful spot, lined with flowering frangipanis and bougainvillea vines as well as lush shady palm trees, you’d be forgiven for thinking you’ve escapedtosomewhereinEurope.
The kids will love riding their bikes or scooters down the laneway while you enjoy an excellent cuppa and brekky at one of the outdoor tables of Lords ofPour.
Don’t forget to pop your heads into The Galleria afterwards for a spot of shopping, because #supportlocal and of course, grab a sweet treat from MamiGato.

Just a 5 minute stroll from the beach and the hustle and bustle of Terrigal makes us the perfect spot to relax and unwind.
In the heart of Wyong, there's a place that embodies the spirit of transformation and community rejuvenation, now a local haven of events, hospitality and retail.
More than a century ago, there was one thriving hub of retail anyone and everyone from Newcastle to Sydney knew about, and it was right here on the Coast. The Chapman Building at Wyong was known as the largest general merchants store in the region, until it fell prey to the rise of thegreatshoppingcentre.
The derelict building lay dormant, until just over a decade ago when local visionary Derrick Hajje took a punttopreservehistoryandturnthe forgotten relic into the vibrant beatingheartofthecommunity.
It was a daunting task, but Derrick's background in building and his love for heritage gave him the determination to crack on with his ambitiousendeavour.
"When I saw the building, it was a bit ofamess,"DerricktoldCoasties.
"But there was something about it that I loved. It had such character, history, andpotential."
The transformation of The Chapman Precinct didn't happen overnight. It wasalabouroflovethattookyearsof hard work and dedication. Derrick recallstheinitialchallengesofdealing with a building that had been vacant fortwodecades.
"Itwasoverwhelmingatfirst,"hesaid. "But I knew I had to start somewhere."
That somewhere was the front of the building, where Derrick gradually began the restoration process, breathing new life into the historic structure.Glee, acozycoffeebar, was oneofthefirstbusinessestoopenits doors in he Precinct, and its success markedthebeginningofaremarkable turnaroundforWyong.
As more businesses joined The Chapman Precinct, it quickly became apopular, thrivingcommunityhub.
"There was nowhere to have a decent coffeeinWyongbefore,"Derricksaid.
"But now, people come here from all over to enjoy the atmosphere and variety of shopping and events we put on."
The Chapman Precinct is now more than just a place to grab a bite, shop, or even enjoy a cheeky cocktail; it's a testament to Derrick's vision of celebrating heritage and creating unique spaces for locals to be proud of. From Lovinn Lime’s gorgeous dresses and accessories to the gifts on offer at House of Ellery, each business adds its own flair to the precinct.
But perhaps the most remarkable aspect of The Chapman Precinct is its abilitytobringpeopletogether.
Whether it's families enjoying a picnic on the grounds, friends catching up over coffee at Justine's, an authentic Thai massage, Chick’n Korean Fried, or fitness enthusiasts attending a Pilates class at Club Heart or jumping on a bike tour with the Overlander team, there's something for the whole community.

Head Chef of BamVino, Dana Chantler is back for a second issue to bring you the weekend walk.
If you’re up for a bit of an adventure, Pindar Cave has been coined one of the Coast’s quirkiest bushwalks and doesn’t disappoint.
Firstly, you need to catch the train to Wondabyne Station by hopping on the last carriage on the train and inform the conductor you’d like to get off at Wondabyne. You need to flag down the train on the return journey, which sounds stressful, but it really isn’t.
From the station down at the water you start with some steep terrain, it soon levels out to a more gentle gradient.
12KM-3-4HOURS
The track lined with beautiful wildflowers is a treat but it’s the cave at the end that makes this challenging walk absolutely worth the effort, and the photos do not do it justice. We reckon you’ll want to stay for ages in awe of nature’s beauty. In fact, many do as this is a popular spot for overnight camping.
With our family of three boys in tow (aged eight, five and three), it took about six hours for this trail but adults or older kids will likely complete it in four.
As always, safety is a priority. We recommend you use a trail GPS app as the trail can be tricky to find in places. Due to being pretty remote, take lots of drinking water and first aid gear.
Is it really a visit to Long Jetty without a pop in to Plain Janes?!
We think not, especially now their new era has begun.
When you celebrate your 10th birthday as a bricks and mortar retailstore(especiallywhenthreeof those10werepandemic’d)youknow you’redoingsomethingright.
With more than 10 years in the fashion industry, new owner and buyer Britney Woods has a palpable passion and excitement to continue on the legacy of this iconic store as wellasgrowtheironlineshop.
There is always fresh and beautiful stock in store (dangerous for the wallet, we know) with new arrivals coming in weekly. It means that when we pop in for a purchase of some shoes we walk out with books, gifts and/or beach picnic essentials. Because, well, aswesaid, essentials!

From handmade ceramics to intricately crafted jewellery and upcycled timber furniture, the Central Coast is the proud home to a thriving community of talented makers and creators whose work reflects the beauty and diversity of our destination.
Megs Mugs, Nicole Berlach, Second Life Recrafted, Glampton House, and Bird + Hill are just a few of the local businesses making waves with their unique and thoughtful creations, that you can check out for yourself at the Central Coast Visitor Centre at The Entrance.
Starting with Megs Mugs, each handpainted piece is a labour of love. They'll bring joy and personality to your morning cuppa, with designs inspired by the natural beauty of the Central Coast.
Similarly, Nicole Berlach's incredible scientific watercolour artworks of local flora and fauna on paper and linen are created, in Berlach’s words, “to encourage you to see the world with wider eyes - to slow down and appreciate the beauty in small things, and to be grateful.”
To scale your purchase up in size, take a look at Second Life Recrafted, who handcraft award-winning artisan wares and decor from recycled timber, with sustainability at the forefront of their mission.

What inspired you to start this initiativeattheyoungageof16?
I started Woman Hood Central Coast because my Nana Reet spoke about her childhood and the difficulties she had growing up in poverty with little accesstosupplies.
Tell us more about Woman Hood CentralCoast'smission.
Our mission is to bring local businesses and locals together to support community groups that serve individualsneedingahand.Weaimto easetheburdenoncommunitygroups tryingtofundtoiletries.
How has the response been from both cafesandthecommunity?
It’sbeenoverwhelming, takingnotime at all to have 23 amazing cafes registered to host pink bins right across the Coast and we are positive that this will be our biggest collection monthyet.
What types of toiletries are most needed by the local charity groups? We have a list of the most needed items on the sides of every pink bin; however, sometimes, we get asked by communitygroupstocalloutforitems thatarelowinstock.

Any surprising or heartwarming moments?
We’ve had so many heart-warming moments. One local community group said that they had almost given up hope because they just were not receivingthedonationsneededtostay open until we came along to help them. Cafes have told us that their sales improved while hosting a pink bin. Importantly, we love that all the toiletries are going directly to individualswhoneedabitofahand.

We caught up with Long Jetty locals, owners of super cute The Cacti Folk, and parents to four (yes, four!) kids under eight years old, Kim (the Irish one) and Mitch (the Coastie from Kincumber) to discovertheirhoodfaves.
When we manage to lock down a babysitter we are big fans of our gorgeous newtapasspotintheJetty, Jaspers.
If we’re honest though we do far more kid friendly dinners than dining out. Kaino’s is ourgo-tofortakeawayfishandchipsthat we love taking down to the lake edge or beach (the beauty of Long Jetty living, we have the best of both worlds) for sunset picnics.
ShellyBeachGolfClub is walking distance from our home and kid friendly, so it’s our eat-outoption(withkids).
Coffee is life, would you expect anything less from parents of four? Flour and Co is our absolute favourite, the coffee, the baked goods and of course their coffee beans for our machine at home. We do also adore Mr Sha Sha’s for brews and brekky.
Upstairs Wines are a must for wine and entertainingathome.

Excel V+ is a new, non-invasive multipurpose laser treatment that transforms and renews the skin with little to no downtime. The device has three handpieces and two separate wavelengths able to treat over 20 skin, pigmentation and vascular concerns.
This unique laser treatment administers a green high-power laser, absorbing the abnormal blood vessels or imperfections being treated. The laser heats them until they are removed or have reached a clinical endpoint. It is delivered through a handpiece applied directly onto the skin.
Perfect for anyone with pigmentation or vascular skin concerns. It treats the most common skin concerns including rosacea, spider veins, acne scars, fine lines and age spots.
The results are well worth the investment. You may experience slight swelling and redness immediately after the treatment, with results generally showing 2-6 weeks after your first treatment. Depending on the severity of the condition, results may take 1-3 sessions.
To minimise discomfort, the treatment uses a proprietary cooling mechanism, which means you can expect to experience very minimal discomfort if any at all.
