DAVID & HARLEY
Coast Hotels, known for warm hospitality and commitment to making guests feel at home, has gone a step further in embracing love for pets. Introducing the latest pet-friendly feature, “Real Pets”. Coast Hotels is set to celebrate the bond between pet guardians and their animal companions by showcasing Ambassadors and their beloved pets. To kickstart this exciting venture, we sat down with David McQuinn, the General Manager of Coast Bastion Hotel in Nanaimo, BC, and his dog Harley, for a heartwarming conversation about their life together.
HARLEY - MORE THAN JUST A NAME

David’s pet, Harley, a purebred French Bulldog, bears a name inspired by the iconic motorcycle, Harley-Davidson. It’s a name that strikes a perfect balance between his love for motorcycles and his wife’s preference for a cuter name.
A Family Member With Furry Paws
Harley was born in Tumbler Ridge, BC, and her journey into the McQuinn family was sparked by a colleague’s French Bulldog, Archie. David’s daughter and niece had French/Boston mixes, but it was Archie’s cool demeanor that convinced the McQuinns to find a French Bulldog to join their family. Harley’s arrival was serendipitous, the last of a litter who needed a home, she was the perfect dog to complete their household.
COAST HOTELS’ PET-FRIENDLY PHILOSOPHY
Coast Hotels’ commitment to being pet-friendly aligns seamlessly with David’s family and life philosophy. To him, Harley isn’t merely a pet but an integral part of the family. She even accompanies David to work, spreading joy among the team, guests, and their pets alike. The pet loving atmosphere at Coast Hotels resonates across the entire brand, creating a unique and welcoming environment for everyone.
Harley In Three Words
Describing Harley’s personality in three words, David chooses “kind, engaging, and playful.”
It’s clear that Harley is a cherished companion who brightens the McQuinn’s lives every day. Our guess is that between the motorcycle and his pet, that David got the Harleys he always wanted.
