KARLSSON

Families woke up early again on Monday, Aug. 27, as Carpinteria’s schools kicked off the 2018-19 school year. By bus, bike, skateboard, scooter and on foot, students found their way from the breakfast table to the classroom door. Victor Moctezuma caught his bus early in Carpinteria en route to the Alpha School in Santa Barbara. An enthusiastic student, Moctezuma graduated this spring from Carpinteria Unified School District’s program Success in Education of Adult Life Skills (SEALS), before starting school as an adult-learner at Alpha through the Santa Barbara County Office of Education. Here’s to a great school year! For more back to school photographs see page 26.
