Carpinteria Valley Little League’s Junior Padres finished a dominating season with a thrilling come-from-behind victory over the Saticoy White Sox to claim the District 63 North Championship. This is the first time a junior division team from CVLL has ever won the district championship. “Carpinteria has had really good junior teams in the past,” said Tim Gray, one of the team’s coaches and father of the Padres’ catcher, Colten Gray.
“But to have this team accomplish what they did – honestly, I don’t think anyone thought much about this team until word got around about the quality of baseball these guys were playing. The community rallied around this team and started to come to the home games to see them play.” Making this season’s success even more special is the fact that CVLL – which was founded in 1997 – celebrated its 25th Anniversary this year.
