Voters have chosen!

Uncle Chen Chinese restaurant claimed the championship title in this year’s Noodle Madness—a contest that whittled 19 local eateries down to just one champion over the last four weeks of bracket-style voting. Pictured at right celebrating the victory are members of Uncle Chen’s Lee family: Tsai-Wang, Yu-Mei, Tina, Roy, Taison, Madison and Ellison. Tsai-Wang and Yu-Mei have owned the Shepard Place Shops restaurant since 1991, prior to which Tsai-Wang worked as the head chef at China Castle in Santa Barbara. Manager Tina Lee said that the dishes at Uncle Chen are easy to like because they’re cooked with love. And customers have loads of noodle plates to choose among. Most popular is the chow mein, but also worth slurping up are the silky rice noodles and robust udon.
