Warriors launch into league play with a win

Trailing their Malibu opponents 14-7 into the fourth quarter, the Carpinteria High School Warriors nevertheless pulled out a 29-14 victory last Friday, Oct. 20, at Memorial Stadium with three touchdowns in the final 12 minutes of the game. Chris Ramirez (pictured) picked off a Malibu pass, returning 30 yards for a touchdown on the interception. The Warrior team participated in 40 minutes of CHS Senior Night festivities prior to the game, which had head coach Rick Candaele concerned about his players’ focus going into the match up against Malibu. And while it may have taken four quarters to get there, the Warriors won the night and look forward to meeting Fillmore High this Friday, Oct. 27.
