In addition to Minor Hockey and the High School Program, Six distinct leagues have been established and are currently operating. The Rusty Cranks, Over 45 League, Men’s League, Women’s League, Mavericks Coed, and the Coastal Tsunami junior hockey proudly call the Sunshine Coast home.

RUSTY CRANKS

The Sunshine Coast Seniors Hockey Club, known as the Rusty Cranks, welcomes players aged 60 and older Seventy-three members, averaging 69 years old, represent the Coast from Garden Bay to Gibsons. The Club rents ice from the SCRD for morning sessions on Mondays and Tuesdays in Gibsons and Wednesdays and Thursdays in Sechelt, drawing up to 20 skaters and two goalies.

Established 25 years ago by seven founding members, the Club continues to thrive, with some still active in their 90s. Notably, Tom Gory, now 99, remains a cherished participant in this vibrant community.

MEN’S LEAGUE

Founded in 1974, the men ’ s hockey league on the Sunshine Coast has a rich history and strong community ties. Pioneers like Jim Gray and Hilda Brown laid the groundwork for a thriving league. Early matches featured full-contact play in a unique arena, creating an electric atmosphere for fans. Iconic teams such as the Anderson A’s and Cozy Court Bruins have left their mark. Now known as the Sunshine Coast Men’s Adult Hockey League (SCAHL), it features fierce competition. It has expanded to include junior hockey and a Women’s Hockey League, celebrating the region’s enduring passion for the sport. There are options for every level of player. So, what are you waiting for? Find a team and lace up your skates!

WOMEN’S LEAGUE

The Sunshine Coast Women’s Hockey League (SCWHL) was founded 25 years ago by women determined to create an inclusive space in a traditionally male-dominated sport. As the only women ’ s hockey league on the Sunshine Coast, it features four teams and has welcomed hundreds of players, from seasoned athletes to beginners. The SCWHL has paved the way for women to embrace hockey, fostering a love for the sport across generations Today, we see daughters and granddaughters of league members out on the ice, continuing the legacy of empowerment and passion for hockey.

COAST MAVERICKS

Coast Mavericks Hockey Club was started this year and we are pleased to have four full teams playing in a competitive, inclusive, gender diverse intermediate adult hockey league. We believe next year we will have even more as our waitlist grows.
