bring the best education on Endof-Life topics to our professionals and caregivers. Today, little over a year later, our programs have reached more than 1,300 people in and beyond our community, and thanks to key collaborations with partners, we have been able to provide accredited education to healthcare professionals in the region. We are over the moon with these results and they inspire us to bring even more valuable education where is needed.
As conditions become safer for our attendees, we are growing our education offerings and this year will provide in-person programs, expanding the opportunities for healthcare professionals to acquire state-of-the-art education in End-of-Life care, directly from our subject-matter experts. On that note, I am happy to announce our new Community Education and Caregiver Academy Manager: Lauren King. Lauren joined our organization as a Provider Relations Liaison and she has been collaborating with the Caregiver Academy for a while now. Her ample knowledge of the communities we serve and her drive for quality care will take the Caregiver Academy to new frontiers! More to come!

In January, we learned about Seasonal Affective Disorder and the ways we can counter the adverse effects of this
In February, in recognition of Black History Month, we had an outstanding panel presenting “Black History and Healthcare: Past, Present, and Future.” Dr. Mark L. Bowen, Ed.D., SHRM-IWCS; Alvin Harmon, CBCP, CEOLD; Rev. Gary Stewart, M.Div.; and Lakishia Hardy, RN presented a lively discussion on the history of racial disparities in our healthcare industry, and the initiatives that organizations like Coastal Hospice are developing to support the Black Community when facing life-limiting illnesses.

Our Caregiver Academy is growing to provide timely education to our community. We are always looking for new ideas, so if you have any suggestions on relevant topics for professionals and caregivers in our community, we would love to hear from you!
Wishing you a lovely spring season,
Alejandra
