Caregiving

By Tammy Patrick

In honor of the veterans we have cared for throughout the years, a patient room at the Macky & Pam Stansell House has been dedicated as the We Honor Veterans Room. In a touching ceremony during the week of Veteran’s Day, we unveiled a plaque that honors donors and organizations making a donation of $5,000 or more, dedicating their support of this program.

We are thankful to American Legion Synepuxent Post 166 - Ocean City, American Legion Wicomico Post 64, Choptank Memorial VFW Post 7460, Crisfield American Legion Post 16, Eastside Memorial VFW Post 2996, In Memory of G. Douglas Juckett with love from, Dorothy Juckett & Family, Ocean City Lions Club, and Ocean Pines Platform Tennis Association, for their generous contribution.

The Department of Veterans Affairs and the National Hospice & Palliative Care Organization together developed the We Honor Veterans program to empower hospices to meet the unique needs of veterans and their families. Coastal Hospice is a proud member of this national program. When a veteran comes into our care, he or she will receive a special visit that includes a personalized certificate, a patriotic blanket and, whenever possible, a salute from a uniformed military guard. Our staff is prepared to meet veteran’s unique needs. We can assist with enrollment of VA benefits and coordinate with VA or other healthcare organizations. On Veteran’s Day, we hold special honor ceremonies open to all veterans across our service area.
