I am Proud to Be Part of a Community that Goes Above and Beyond A Conversation with Tammy Patrick, Director of Advancement 1. Tell us a little bit about yourself. I joined Coastal Hospice as Director of Advancement in January, 2020. My responsibilities include designing and implementing effective fundraising programs, donor recognition, and relations, as well as, overseeing the Coastal Hospice Thrift Shop. I work closely with Monica Escalante, President of Coastal Hospice and our Communications Department, making sure that our philanthropic efforts are coordinated and support every department’s needs. campaigns that were both fruitful and rewarding on a personal level. I have always enjoyed working with people and earlier in my career I was a restaurant and business owner. I studied accounting at Salisbury University and live in Berlin, Maryland with my sons, Connor and Carson who graduated from Worcester Preparatory School and are pursuing their education and careers. I am very involved in the wellness of our communities and enjoy supporting many local nonprofits. 2. What compelled you to join Coastal Hospice and what do you love most about your job? Hospice has always been near and dear to my heart. As with most everyone I know, several of my family members and friends have been supported by hospice throughout my life. When I was given the opportunity to join Coastal Hospice, it filled my heart that I would be able to assist in giving back for all of the lives that had been able to LIVE during their last months and days. What I love most about my job is what I have learned about Hospice care since I have been here. This is NOT a last resort – Coastal Hospice allows you to extend your life comfortably, while preparing your friends and family in understanding and coping with the end of life. It has given me the desire to educate the community in NOT fearing the word “HOSPICE”. The earlier you choose to educate yourself and your family with the care that we offer — the better your end of life experience.
