ABOUT COASTAL DRIVE Coastal Drive Magazine is a new luxe local lifestyle magazine focusing on the latest trends in fashion, beauty, travel and entertainment. Our mission is to spotlight and support local businesses as we take you on a journey around the coast of South Florida exploring all the latest hotspots and current trends.

Editor’s Note Spring forward! 2022 already feels very different. Things feel as if they are starting to get back to some normalcy as we all cautiously get back to living life like we did pre-pandemic. With restaurants being busy and events and concerts back on schedule, we are back to having things to do and places to be. Travel has resumed for many as families start to plan their spring break and summer vacations. It feels good to have an active social calendar again. The lesson that we all learned through the pandemic was the value of our personal time and boundaries, so while we all start packing in that social calendar, it’s important not to lose sight of setting boundaries and setting aside quality time for yourself and your family. This Spring and Summer season has so much to look forward to! I hope you enjoy this edition that features a few of my personal favorite fashion boutiques, local restaurants, and other great local businesses.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY OF PALM BEACH COUNTY Article By Lise M. Steinhauer

Have you reported for jury duty in Palm Beach County? Perhaps you enjoyed the view from the upper floors of the courthouse in downtown West Palm Beach, including the Historic 1916 Court House across Dixie Highway. Since it was restored in 2008, the neo-classic beauty has been home to the nonprofit Historical Society of Palm Beach County (HSPBC), and its jewel, the Richard and Pat Johnson Palm Beach County History Museum.

nations have learned how our paradise got its name after a shipwreck of coconuts grew into palms. They believe that children learn best about local history through experiences and involvement. This is a primary focus at the museum, where stories about our past come alive in a building that is itself a part of local heritage. Since 2003, the HSPBC has impacted more than half a million children with educational curriculum, museum tours, summer camp, mock trials, and the loan of This is where the county’s children learn traveling trunks and indoor-outdoor pop-up about the Barefoot Mailman, adults read bios exhibits. of Notables, and visitors from hundreds of 6 | SPRING/SUMMER EDITION

Behind the scenes, the archives of the Historical Society is at the core of its mission to collect, protect, and share the county’s history. It has been growing since 1937, when the Florida Historical Society decreed that any Florida county could set up a unit of the state society. Early officers had names like Halsey, Chillingworth, and Butler. As the donations of items to preserve slowly grew, they were displayed or stored at Bethesda-by-the-Sea Episcopal Church, Society of the Four Arts, Whitehall, and the county library. By the time the HSPBC moved from its last home, the Paramount Building in Palm Beach, to the 1916 courthouse, its archives were extensive. Four million images are among the many millions of items that document the story of this paradise. The archives contain more than a hundred voices in recorded oral history interviews, and collections named for families that have contributed their stories. If you have been fortunate enough to dance in the VIP tent at Evening on Antique Row, dine at Archival Evening, or “CIP” at Cocktails in Paradise, you have supported and been entertained by the Historical Society of Palm Beach County (HSPBC). Those who attend these events receive a serving of local history with their food and drinks. At the 19th Annual Archival Evening gala in December, guests were treated to themed vignettes and exhibits of items from the HSPBC’s archives, from Seminole dolls to cameras.

The most recent Cocktails in Paradise, hosted by HSPBC’s Young Friends at The Colony Hotel, featured an exhibit of vintage Lilly Pulitzer and the premiere of the first entry in the HSPBC video series “Beneath the Palms,” produced by Kilo Content and hosted by Kent Anderson. The Young Friends’ signature event, Evening on Antique Row, returns on April 9 with more doses of Palm Beach County history in surprising formats.

By Julian Maiucci orn and raised in Martin County, I’ve always loved where I live, but it wasn’t until I returned home from college that I began to appreciate all of the fantastic food options in and around Stuart. After college, I quickly obtained my real estate license and found myself going out for lunch and dinner with clients quite often. Many of these individuals were from out of town, so they would ask me to choose a location. This allowed me to show off Stuart’s many family-owned and operated restaurants serving high-quality, delicious food. From waterfront dining, fine dining, casual eateries, boutique coffee shops, sushi, and breakfast and brunch spots, Stuart offers dozens of great dining experiences for every pallet and budget. When asked to select a few of my favorites, it was challenging. In addition to the food itself, I believe the entire dining experience from the service, quality, and value all play an essential part. These are just a few of my favorite spots that I visit regularly. To see more, follow my Instagram @stuartfoodie as I continue to discover new places to eat and drink while sharing my favorites along the way! 22 | SPRING/SUMMER EDITION

South Fork Address: 900 SE Indian St, Stuart, Florida New American scratch restaurant with full liquor and raw bar. Reasonably priced fine dining in a comfortable inviting atmosphere. Offering many seafood options along with pastas, steak, and more. It was their award winning burger that brought me here on my first visit. I love a good burger, and must say, the double cheeseburger here is hands down the best in our area and one of, if not the best, burger I’ve ever had! A must try. Since my first visit I have returned and tried other menu items, which were all delicious and freshly prepared. Favorites: BAMF Burger: bacon-onion jam, chipotle aioli, American cheese, hand-cut fries (photo), Crispy Tuna Sushi, Grilled Octopus.

South Fork Kitchen

Colab Kitchen

Colab Kitchen

Address: 100 SE Martin Luther King Jr Blvd, Stuart

Downtown Stuart’s newest spot for fresh delicious food and all things from the farm. The definition of farm to table, Colab Kitchen is the restaurant and market for Colab Farms, located in Western Martin County. The farm does not use chemical pesticides or herbicides and uses non-GMO and untreated seed for all their growing.

Upon entering Colab Kitchen you are greeted with the market and bakery, serving fresh veggies, house made cheese pastries, bread, sausage, beef, eggs, and more! Past the market is the hostess stand where you are greeted with a large indoor dining area, expansive full liquor bar with specialty house cocktails, and an open kitchen. Walk through the indoor dining to the sliders and you will be surprised to see the enormous outdoor area with beautiful outdoor seating on the patio, green space for children to play, smoker house, mobile bar (for special events), and more. The atmosphere is truly amazing and has an upscale feel like nothing else in Stuart or Martin County. The menu is continuing to evolve, as they just opened the doors a few weeks ago. Fresh, unique, and quality ingredients are how I would describe their menu and food thus far. Market is open daily 8-4pm, lunch weekdays 11-2pm, brunch on Saturday and Sunday 10:30-3pm, and closed on Monday & Tuesday. Dinner is coming soon! Favorites: Smoked Brisket Sandwich: horseradish bbq, tomato jam, arugula, aged cheddar (photo), Return of the Glory Bowl, any of their house made Flour & Water pizza pies.

Clarettas

Clarettas Address: 1315 SW Martin Highway, Palm City

Authentic Italian fine dining with the freshest ingredients. Family owned and operated in Palm City since 1997, Clarettas takes great pride in their food, service, and dining experience. Every year in the summer they close the restaurant and return to Italy. While there, they not only take a much needed vacation, but search for next years wines, cheeses, cured meats, and flour for their homemade pastas. Many authentic Italian dishes are not complex, but focus on quality. You can taste this here. Extensive wine lists, house made pastas and sauces, traditional Italian dishes, new specials, and house made desserts are bountiful. Clarettas brings a true Italian dining experience to Martin County.

With parents that were both born and raised in Italy, and having visited Italy several times, I can honestly say dining at Clarettas is as authentic Italian as it gets in our area. I love the opportunity to speak Italian with the owners and staff. This completes the entire dining experience for me and adds to the authenticity Clarettas bestows. Also, their special reservation wine dinners throughout the year are amazing and highly recommended. Favorites: Spaghetti al tartufo nero: long flat pasta, fresh spinach, imported speck, cream and fresh black truffle, Prosciutto Crudo e Melone (photo), Butternut squash Ravioli, and any of their steaks are amazing.

LITTLE PALM ISLAND A D R E A M Y L U X U R Y G E T A WA Y PHOTOS AND ARTICLE BY: LAUREN JOHNSON

se·ren·i·ty “The state of being calm, peaceful, and untroubled”

If serenity is what you’re after, you will find it at Little Palm Island. Once a place where President's recharged and played, it is still an exclusive retreat where barefoot luxury resides, just as it was in its very early days. After a complete renovation and reopening in 2020, it was wonderful to see how the soul of Little Palm still remains.

With a maximum of 60 guests, spread out between 30 villas in 15 Palafitos, with no children, no TV’s in the rooms, no car noise, you will find yourself quickly slipping into the rhythm of the natural surroundings.

No detail is overlooked, from arrival to departure. You are greeted with their signature tropical libation, the “Gumby Slumber,” which helps ease you into island time. Next you board their “Truman” motor yacht , which is a throwback to earlier times with its sleek lines and mahogany planks. You cruise over the water for the short ride to your exclusive piece of paradise. But here is a great insider tip...you can really feel like you are being swept away to your own private island in style by also having the option to arrive via seaplane!

Tropic Airways offers unforgettable flights from Miami to Little Palm where you can start your getaway by spying dolphins and other sealife as you make your way down the breathtaking Florida Keys. Once on the island, you will find the staff attentive at Little Palm, but not overbearing, the perfect balance.

26 | SPRING/SUMMER EDITION

The delicious dining options include, a romantic private dinner in your villa, soaking in the sunset on the beach with your toes in the sand with soft piano music playing, or enjoying dining al fresco on their breezy outdoor patio.

"NO DETAIL IS OVERLOOKED. THE STAR OF THE SHOW IS THE ISLAND ITSELF, WITH LUSH FOLIAGE, FLOWERS, TOWERING GUMBO LIMBO TREES, PALM TREES AND THE OCEAN SURROUNDING YOU IN A COCOON OF TRANQUILITY. IT'S JUST YOU AND THE SEA AND NO PLACE TO BE."

The star of the show is really the island itself. Its lush foliage, the flowers, the towering Gumbo Limbo trees, and of course, the palm trees and ocean surrounding you in a cocoon of tranquility. Be sure to enjoy some time at the Zen Garden as well!

Want to explore? Guests can enjoy snorkeling, fishing or have a private picnic lunch prepared to enjoy at one of the nearby sandbars....just you, and the sea, and no place to be. If staying on land is part of your plan, you can float in the tranquil pool, read a book outside your Palafito in your private lounge chairs, or schedule a visit to their relaxing spa. The villas at Little Palm are actually in Palafitos, which are a blend of a Fijian buré and luxury hideaway and are absolute perfection. The four poster beds with buttery soft sheets invite you to sleep in or maybe take a midday siesta.

This is definitely one of the top 5 places that I have ever stayed at. The accessibility to mainland Florida, and the fun of Key West, makes this a destination that would check all of the boxes of a perfect island getaway.

EAU PALM BEACH

W H E R E S W E E T S T A Y C AT I O N D R E A M S C O M E T R U E PHOTOS AND ARTICLE BY: LAUREN JOHNSON

This luxurious seaside retreat is one of only two Forbes Five Star resorts in Palm Beach and 8 in Florida. A stay at this intimate and elegant property will have you saying goodbye to keeping time as soon as you check in! Upon arrival, you are welcomed with a sparkling glass of champagne and escorted to your room. The oceanfront rooms are a favorite, where you can enjoy the sound of crashing waves below you and uninterrupted views of the Atlantic Ocean. The Lanai Rooms allow you to step out your door and into a private lanai where you only need to push a button to receive personalized service from an attendant. If you like the idea of personalized attention and your very own space to soak up the breathtaking ocean views along with the cooling sea breezes, the oceanfront cabanas are just divine! You can rent them for the entire day and then personalize them to add all of your favorite things! From Dom Perignon and chocolate covered strawberries, to Chef Inspired meals and chilled towels, all would be delivered to you oceanside. There is also an adults only pool nearby which is flanked by lovely lounge chairs to soak up the sun,as well as a newly opened bar area! And trust me, if you are staying at the EAU on a Saturday, find your way over to that adult pool for a special surprise at around 2:30.

Another reason many people return again and again is to “Pause, Play and Perfect” at the Eau’s 42,000 square foot award winning spa. This is not your everyday spa experience, as you will quickly realize upon entering into this tranquil wonderland. The Eau Zone starts your serene journey through this magical space, where upon completion of your treatment, or even before it begins, you can relax and soak up some “me” time in the “Self Centered Garden” while sipping on champagne, or perhaps you are feeling a little playful and would prefer to hang out in the swinging chairs while listening to the burbling of the nearby fountain, my personal favorite. If a delicious meal is part of your plan, you would never need to leave the property! There are the Farm to Fork selections at Angle, which has luxurious seating and glowing candlelight, creating a warm and romantic ambiance. If Italian food is what you savor, look no further then Polpo and their fine selections, which can be enjoyed indoors or out. The Octopus is out of this world! If you are like me and like dining al fresco, then Breeze is your scene for craft cocktails and ocean views while you dine. The latest addition to the Eau dining experience will be a Sushi restaurant which should be near completion by this Spring.

If you love luxury, serenity and stunning ocean views then you must plan your next girls trip or a romantic getaway at The Eau. I promise you, it will be EAUmazing!!!

CLIFF HOUSE MAINE A D R E A M Y L U X U R Y G E T A WA Y PHOTOS AND ARTICLE BY: LAUREN JOHNSON

Looking to escape the Florida humidity this summer with your family or friends? Look no further than the Cliff House in Maine.

This lovely resort is just one hour north of Boston, and minutes from the sandy shores of Ogunquit’s beaches. The property stretches across 70 oceanfront acres on Bald Head Cliff in southern Maine. Each of its 226 luxury rooms include private terraces and stunning ocean views, with 40 suite style accommodations. They even have fun family suite options complete with bunk beds! A real crowd pleaser. The decor throughout the rooms and the resort are maritime chic, which really captures the essence of Maine.

The resort also features 3 pools, one indoors, one dedicated to families and one adult pool. All with stunning views of the Atlantic Ocean.

Delicious dining awaits in 4 different restaurants on property. There are quick-grab goodies provided by Bald Head Coffee Company, and if you want to lounge poolside, you can order food and drinks at The Cove Bar and Grill. I highly recommend their frozen Blueberry Piña Colada. For a casual family friendly dining experience check out Nubb’s Lobster Shack, which serves up all of the New England favorites such as lobster rolls and clam chowder and it also has games like foosball for the kids to enjoy! The Tiller is the spot for panoramic ocean views while you enjoy seasonal farm to table breakfast, lunch or dinner options. It feels like you are on board of an old schooner! If you want to soak up the sights, the Marginal Way is nearby and offers a breathtaking walk along the ocean where you can even spot seals bathing on the rocks! And you cannot leave without exploring the adorable town of Ogunquit, or catching a peek of the Nubble Lighthouse.

If relaxation is what you are after, be sure to experience The Spa at Cliff House. With a focus on the natural surroundings of the property, you will be lulled into a peaceful state of mind in no time while enjoying one of their many treatments. And if you like to be active during your vacation, you will enjoy their state of the art wellness center where you can enjoy cardio machines such as the Peloton, lift weights or sign up for one of their many fitness classes. Cliff House truly is an exquisite property, with no detail overlooked. It is a breath of fresh air, an unforgettable place to make memories with family and friends during your summer getaway.

CUPPING Q&A By: Dr. Shanele Lundahl, Chiropractor | Myo Medical

You may have heard of cupping. It is an ancient therapy used by the Egyptians, Chinese and Middle Eastern cultures for thousands of years. It’s a technique to draw all the fluids in an area to the surface, usually breaking some small blood vessels near the surface - hence the skin discoloration. It is a form of myofascial release professionals and therapists use as a tool to help aid muscle recovery and release fascial restrictions.

How does it work? Most commonly now you will be cupped with either a hard plastic or silicone cup; sometimes professionals (acupuncturists) will use glass cups. Depending on the cup, the person applying the cup either sucks the air out of the cup through a suction gun or releases the air from the cup prior to applying to the skin to get the proper depth desired. Static cupping - cups are applied to an area and left for a few minutes, this tends to bring on the most skin discoloration due to the breaking capillaries near the surface of the skin. Much like a bruise, you will see the body break down and remove the dead blood cells as the colors change from black > purple > green > yellow. With cupping comes new fresh blood and healing to the areas that were “damaged” microscopically. It’s like we’re directing the healing to the areas that we need, which is especially helpful for complaints that have moved into the chronic category. What areas can you do cupping on? Cupping can be done all over the body, including the face. It is best to use over muscle bellies, but can be used over the spine and joint lines as well. Facial cupping can be beneficial for symptoms of the head and neck, or also for improved circulation and lymph drainage.

Who would benefit from cupping? Most individuals can benefit from some form of cupping, when applied properly by a professional. Individuals that I tend to avoid cupping or am very cautious with are geriatric & prenatal clients. It’s still safe for both categories, but there can be other myofascial release techniques that can be used since the healing time is increased with both these categories.

How often should you do cupping? A safe practice is to not cup (the same area) again until the marks have completely disappeared & healed. Less is more when it comes to cupping, we don’t want to overload the body - just direct the healing to the correct area for maximum relief. Why does cupping leave marks? Small blood vessels (capillaries) are breaking near the surface of the skin, therefore leaving dead blood cells for the body to break down and remove. Basically a bruise, which requires healing. How long do the marks stay after a cupping session? Usually between 7-10 days

GOLF TIPS FROM A PRO: WITH RICHARD S. JOHNSON Professional golfer, Richard S Johnson, was born in Stockholm, Sweden in 1976 and has now resided in Jupiter, Florida since 2003. Richard turned PRO in 1998 and has had 5 international wins. He joined the PGA Tour in 2003 after successfully negotiating qualifying school. Richard won his first PGA Tour title in 2008 at the US Bank Championships in Milwaukee, and also won the ANZ Championship in 2002 and Nordea Scandinavian Masters in 2010 on the European Tour.

Making putts from 3-6 feet is what makes a decent round to a good one or a terrible one in to a decent one. This is one of my favorite putting drills I do every week when I’m competing.

32 | SPRING/SUMMER EDITION

Start by finding a hole that has some pitch around it. Then you must figure out where the straight uphill putt is on the green. Step off 4 feet and put a Tee down. (If you think of it as a clock, you put the tee down at 6 o’clock).

Now put down 3 more tees 4 feet from the hole at 12, 3, and 9 o’clock (So the 6 o’clock put is going to be straight uphill, the 3 and 9 o’clock will have the most break. 12 o’clock should be pretty straight downhill).

After this is done we need to put 4 more tees out 3 feet from the hole in between the 4 tees that we already have down. You now have a total of 8 tees. I like to change the distance to the hole on every other putt so I don’t get used to one speed.

When you accomplish 8 in a row, move every tee out 1 foot. So now you have putts from 4-5 feet. After that 5-6 feet and so on… For me it’s a great way to get to know the greens that we are playing on that week as they all have different grasses, different speeds and breaks differently.

The drill is to make 8 puts in a row (when you miss, you don’t start over from the tee that you started at. You just go to the Lock in your 3-6 foot putts and next one and start that as your lower your scores! first putt).

Cellulite Free Summer Booty By: Kiera DiCicco | ARNP, Master Injection Specialist Owner of Albany Aesthetics

So many women struggle with cellulite. Sometimes no matter how many times a week you are hitting the gym, that stubborn cellulite just won’t go away! Well don’t give up just yet as there is a new treatment available now to help combat that stubborn cellulite! Meet QWO! QWO is the first and only FDA- approved injectable for cellulite treatment in the buttocks. Off- label uses include the thigh area. What exactly is cellulite? The fibrous bands under the skin begins to thicken over time and cause tension on the skin creating dimples.

I am sure you are wondering how exactly this QWO works? The enzyme, collagenases, found in QWO helps release the tension from fibrous bands that contribute to cellulite. QWO redistributes fat cells that are pushing against the skin and helps stimulate new collagen production. With every type of treatment, it is a process that requires a commitment of more than one session. For best results 3 QWO treatments is recommended with each treatment being 3 weeks apart. Visible results may be seen in 4-10 weeks after initial treatment. Treatment maintenance schedule is individualized per client and can be discussed with your aesthetic provider. Another common question you may be wondering… Does it hurt?! Not to worry as QWO injections cause minimal discomfort and require no post-treatment downtime. QWO is injected with tiny small gauge needles and therefore, topical anesthetic is not necessary for injections. Not everyone is a candidate for this new treatment. Ideal candidates for QWO include adult women with moderate to severe cellulite in the buttocks. Patients with dimples created by skin laxity or changes in skin tone would not be considered QWO candidates.

What are you waiting for ladies? Schedule your QWO consult so you can be bikini ready by Summer time! Contact Us! (772) 320-9791 / www.albanyas.com

IMPORTANT SAFETY INFORMATION: Do not receive QWO if you: are allergic to collagenase or to any of the ingredients in QWO, or have an active infection at the treatment area. QWO may cause serious side effects, including: Allergic (hypersensitivity) reactions, including anaphylaxis. Call your healthcare provider right away if you have hives, trouble breathing, low blood pressure, swollen face, chest pain, dizziness or fainting after receiving QWO; Injection site bruising. Before receiving QWO, tell your healthcare provider if you: have a bleeding problem are pregnant or may become pregnant, nursing or plan to nurse. You and your healthcare provider should decide if you will receive QWO or breastfeed. Tell your healthcare provider about all the medicines you take, including prescription and over-the-counter medicines, vitamins and herbal supplements. Especially tell your healthcare provider if you take a medicine that prevents the clotting of your blood (antiplatelet or anticoagulant). The most common side effects of QWO include: injection site bruising, pain, areas of hardness, itching, redness, discoloration, swelling and warmth in the treatment area. These are not all the possible side effects of QWO. Call your healthcare provider for medical advice about side effects. You are encouraged to report side effects of prescription drugs to the FDA at www.fda.gov/medwatch or 1-800-FDA-1088.

KERRY CAVALLO OWNER/LEAD INSTRUCTOR AT CORE EVOLUTION

CDM: Hi Kerry! CDM is so excited to share your personal journey as an entrepreneur, a mother of 3 and to hear about the Lagree Fitness Method! You are indeed super fit! What is your secret? KC: First of all, thank you! My fitness journey runs deep. I am a former D1 college athlete and have been teaching fitness for over 20 years. I joined Core Evolution first as a client, then as an instructor and became Studio Owner in 2018. CDM: What exactly is Lagree and how did you discover this unique method? KC: I discovered the megaformer workout through my colleague as an indoor cycling instructor and quickly realized how effective it was. I knew from that moment, that I would implement Lagree into my life and I never looked back. Core Evolution is the only studio in Palm Beach County that offers this exclusive fitness method. CDM: Is Lagree the same as Pilates? KC: Lagree is fundamentally different from Pilates by combining high-intensity techniques with low impact qualities. The fusion of strength, endurance, cardio, balance and flexibility training on the megaformer machine offers an exercise that is safe and effective for all individuals. Lagree has something to offer everyone looking to reach and maximize their fitness goals. 42 | SPRING/SUMMER EDITION

CDM: Covid has impacted a lot of fitness studios. How have you managed through that as the owner? KC: Like everyone else, Covid has impacted Core Evolution in many unforeseen ways. As a small business owner, I have had to learn to roll with the punches and expect the unexpected. Our studio operated at limited capacity for 4 weeks before an 8-week government mandated shutdown. Our Core team pivoted quickly by featuring a variety of at-home workouts with our instructor team on both our social media pages and our YouTube channel. When we were finally able to re-open, our primary focus (and continues to be) is ensuring the health and safety of our community. Through enhanced cleaning procedures and closely monitoring local guidelines, I am proud to say Core Evolution has been able to safely and successfully navigate these unprecedented times.

CDM: 2020 was a difficult year for you in more ways than just Covid. Can you share your personal journey with a major health scare and how you managed through all of the challenges with such a positive attitude? KC: 2020 was probably the most challenging year of my life. Right before Covid, I was hit by a teenage drunk driver. When the doctors did imaging of my neck to assess injuries, they discovered I had cancer in my thyroid. By the time testing and byopsy results were done, the world was completely locked down. I had to wait an additional 6 weeks before I was able to undergo surgery at the Thyroid Cancer Center in Tampa. When I went in for surgery, they discovered the cancer had spread and required the additional removal of 12 lymph nodes. Not only was this physically challenging, but also mentally - on the same day of my surgery, the studio reopened for business. I had to put complete faith in my team to reopen during a pandemic. They were absolutely amazing and thanks to their endless support, I was able to return to teaching a month earlier from my recovery. If 2020 has taught me anything, it was to wake up each morning grateful and eager to share my health and fitness journey through Lagree.

CDM: WOW! Your positive mindset is just incredible! Not only are you a successful small business owner, you’re a mother of 3. How do you manage everything you do while keeping to your fitness regime? KC: It definitely takes a village and lots of time management! I’m very fortunate to have such a fantastic support system surrounding me. None of this would be possible without my family, friends and my team.

"I hope this will inspire others to come join us at Core Evolution!"

Kerry Cavallo,

Owner/Instructor

CDM: Your family is very philanthropic and always looking at ways to give back to the community. You even have your own non-profit organization called Bella’s Angels. Can you tell us more about this organization? KC: Bella’s Angels, Inc. was formed after my daughter, Bella was diagnosed with CHARGE syndrome at 4 years of age. CHARGE is a rare genetic syndrome that impacts 1 in 12,000 births. After years of searching for answers, we struggled to find help with the mounting medical and travel expenses that insurance would not cover for her therapies. Bella’s Angels (a 501 c3 non-profit organization) has grown tremendously since 2005 and has assisted many local special-needs children and their families within Palm Beach, Broward and Martin Counties. Funds are raised through local and national fundraisers and are allocated to help pay for medical, travel and therapeutic costs that are not covered by insurance but are crucial in diagnosing and treating the ongoing medical needs of these children with life-long disabilities. CDM: Kerry, you are the epitome of a woman’s strengh, determination, drive and perserverance and you truly are a role model for your children and other women! Thank you for sharing so much about yourself with us and our readers. KC: Thank you for having me! It is always a pleasure to share my passion for The Lagree Fitness Method with the greater community! It is the best feeling and truly a luxury to wake up everyday and do what I love for a living!

2022 Spring/Summer Bridal Trend Favorites

There were so many fabulous Bridal trends from Spring 2022 collections! Coastal Drive Magazine picked a few favorites!

FLORAL MOTIFS There’s no better way to represent springtime than to have a bridal gown full of florals! BRIDAL SEPARATES This non-traditional trend is not only hot in bridal, but was very hot with designers for Ready-to-Wear Fashion Week! DEEP V NECKLINES Plunging necklines were debuted in many of the major designers’ collections this season. MINI DRESSES Who said that bridal dresses had to be long gowns? Got great legs? Show them off in a bridal mini this Spring/Summer season! TRANSITIONAL PIECES Bridal capes, overskirts, and removable sleeves! We love this style trend in bridal for the versatility in changing your look from ceremony to reception.

FASHION + STYLE TRENDS

Elite Master Spray Tan Artist and Owner of Healthy Glow Airbrush Tanning of Jensen Beach, Susan Brand, offers her bridal tan tips this wedding season: • •

• •

When scheduling your beauty services for your upcoming wedding day, DO NOT forget to schedule your customized airbrush tan.

Make tanning your last appointment in preparing. For example, you want to make sure when receiving your pedicure that your new tan is not scrubbed off. We recommend 2 days prior to your wedding, for that perfect wedding tan!

A trial is always recommended but not necessary.

PRO TIP: Use that trial tan for your upcoming bachelorette party, photos, or even your bridal shower. Remember, achieving a gorgeous airbrush tan is the one you cannot tell. Be sure to check with your bridal party to make sure they do not have special treats planned for you before your tan such as a massage, facial, waxing…

Pre-Tanning prep is key to a flawless tan. Read the tanning tips carefully to achieve the best bridal tan results. Never leave the solution on more than my recommended time.

BRIDAL HAIR & MAKEUP

By: Kate Blake and Cassie Tichenor

Kate and Cassie are Top Luxury Bridal hair and makeup providers catering to the Palm Beaches and surrounding areas. They have quickly built a cult following amongst locals and Bride-to-Be’s. Coastal Drive chatted with this dynamic duo to gather their helpful tips for our readers preparing to say “I do”.

CDM: How should a bride prepare for her wedding day, beauty-wise?

Kate: I recommend my brides focus on hydration and a maintaining a basic, simple skincare routine. Don’t switch your whole regimen a week before your wedding and decide to get a last minute chemical peel- it’s a recipe for disaster. Try to keep your skin calm and happy. Cleanser, hydrating serum, moisturizer, SPF- I can help recommend product specifics during a trial. Drinking lots of water leading up to the big day always helps too! Cassie: To prepare for the big day I often recommend a slight trim/dusting of any dead ends about a month out. Sometimes a clarifying shampoo or treatment is also needed. Ideally, I like to create a tailored hair care plan with my brides during their trial since everyone’s hair has different needs.

54 | SPRING/SUMMER EDITION

This is also an opportunity to color match for extensions. 9 times out of 10, extensions are necessary to give the hairstyle fullness and hold. CDM: Do you have any tips for how brides can keep their hair and makeup fresh and intact on the big day?

Kate: If you’re able to book your artist to stay with you throughout the day for touchups, do it. I offer a “Bride’s Day Package” which includes exactly that. Wedding days are long and with them comes lots of emotion. I love being there for my brides to keep them looking fresh through it all. Me being there allows them to embrace the moments, cry the tears, and share all the kisses without worrying about how their makeup looks. Also, Florida weather… need I say more?

Cassie: The brides day package is honestly the only way to book your beauty team! I do natural hairstyles and with that means not a lot of hairspray/lacquered looks. I love enhancing a brides natural hair and a lot of times it’s a very soft touchable style. Most brides now opt for the first look so from the time hair is finished to the time you are walking down the isle it’s been about 4 hours (sometimes more) of photos. This is, keep in mind, outside, and in Florida the weather is unpredictable so it could be a literal dewy cloud outside, great for photos not for hair! When I stay with my brides I am able to keep them looking perfect and also do a complete touch up/refresh before ceremony and seeing your guests for the first time! Bonus: I love being able to remove the veil and do a fun party pony for reception so you can dance all night and not worry about your hair!

CDM: How do you help your brides choose the best hair and makeup look for their wedding day?

Cassie & Kate: First and foremost, we want our brides to feel like the most beautiful version of themselves. We take a lot of things into consideration when creating bespoke wedding day looks. Personal preferences, hair type, facial features, the dress, floral color palette, venue, photographer’s style, just to name a few. Each look is completely personalized.

CDM: Thank you for all of the great information! Where can future brides find you ladies?

Kate: Thank you!! My website is www.KateBlakeArtistry.com. Follow me on Instagram at @KateBlakeArtistry Cassie: We’re happy to help! My website is www.ivyandlacefl.com . Follow me on Instagram at @Ivyandlacefl

SUMMER DO's & DON'Ts

By: Rhianna Thorlton | Master Stylist & Extension Specialist rhistyled_hair Having lots of fun in the summertime sun can lead to a hair extension nightmare. Here are some tips on how to avoid a major hair extension emergency! Sunscreen: DO use a mineral sunscreen. DON'T use any sunscreen with Avobenzone. (especially if it is a spray sunscreen as it can easily be transferred to the hair extensions). Warning: Sunscreens containing Avobenzone can turn extensions a peachy pink color and it's very difficult to remove. Product Tip: Dream Filter by Color Wow is a spray that removes build up and mineral deposits from the hair. It will fade the peachy/pink color left by sunscreen and with continued use can eliminate it completely. Chlorine: DO wear your hair up while swimming or use a cap and use a leave-in conditioner before swimming. DON'T soak extensions in chlorinated water. Warning: Chlorine can be extremely drying to extensions and can possibly cause the extensions to turn a greenish tint. Product Tip: Dream Filter by Color Wow Product Pick's for Hair Extension Care: Oribe’s Shampoo and Conditioner for Beautiful Color will protect hair from fading from the sun and keep hair moisturized. Oribe Invisible Defense - is a Heat Protectant and UV Protectant Spray and can protect hair from the sun. Deep conditioning masks are recommended once a week in the summer. Tips for Hair Extension Care: 1. Washing extensions are only recommended 1-2 times per week and use a dry shampoo such as Oribe Gold Lust Dry Shampoo in-between washes. 2. Bubble braids are a cute and very easy style to do in between washes. I also love to throw a cute hat on the day before shampoo day. 3. Don't always wear your hair up as it can cause extensions to slip. 4. It is also recommended to use professional-grade hair products.

Things To Do This Spring To Get Your Financial Affairs in Order By Mindie Molina | Financial Advisor

1

Complete a life insurance analysis. Even if you already have life insurance, you should still analyze your financial situation and determine how much money would be required to maintain your beneficiaries' standard of living. Many times people procrastinate getting life insurance and still do not have it. Some people just purchase a random policy for a random amount that may or may not be a perfect fit, or some purchased a life insurance policy long ago and their needs have changed. Whether one of those scenarios is you or not, you may get an updated quote simply because it might save you money. Mortality tables change and that impacts premiums. Since people are living longer, it's usually for the better.

2

Dig out those old forgotten 401ks, 403bs, and IRA's accounts from old jobs. Rather than holding multiple accounts, you can combine them to form one retirement account. The process is very simple. Once complete, you will be less likely to have oversight and more likely to manage that one account in a more responsible way.

3

Evaluate your disability and long-term care financial needs. Should anything happen to you or your family that you no longer could work, how would that impact your ability to maintain your standard of living? Often we consider death as the only possible threat; however, many people face hardships due to illness or injury. Being prepared is key.

4

62 | SPRING/SUMMER EDITION

Get organized! A simple filing system makes managing your financial affairs easier, and therefore increases the likelihood that you will stay on top of things. So clean out the old outdated mail. It's ok to keep documents, but keep them separated by policy, accounts, etc. I like to be able to pull one file folder that contains everything regarding that one account and nothing else. Most letters and documents reference the policy or account number somewhere. Start making stacks, then move each stack into its own labeled folder. If you really want to be organized, you can even scan them into digital files for storage.

5

Review your wills and trusts. If you don't have anything yet, it's time to spring into action. Make the call and schedule a meeting with an estate attorney. Make sure your beneficiaries on your accounts are named, up to date, and accurate. Is the Power of Attorney you selected still a good fit? Have there been any life changes that should be updated in your estate plans? Are the documents easy to find in a location your beneficiaries will know to look?

6

7

Review all of your financial accounts. Look for ways to simplify tracking your spending. The fewer, more organized accounts the better. For instance, having one account designated to household spending, business accounts, eating out, gas, etc. Being able to quickly review your spending will significantly increase your accountability.

8

Review your investment accounts. How well did your investments perform? How transparent are the fees you are paying? Review your risk tolerance in accordance with the performance of the investments. Maybe it's time to update the investment strategies to align with your outlook on the economy and market this year versus what it was when you first opened the account.

Request a tax analysis to see if there are any opportunities for you to save on your taxes for 2022. Perhaps a ROTH Conversion is a good fit. Maybe there is a way to reduce your Social Security taxation or reduce your tax exposure in your investment accounts. Maybe your required minimum distributions could be sourced in a way to avoid taxation. Has your income increased to a level that requires more proCompare your current ability to save active planning? Taxes are typically dealt with by with your future needs. Will you have looking at what you did for the year. Tax savings enough to retire? Are you saving enough strategies come by determining what you are go- for college costs? Are you out-pacing inflaing to do. Be proactive and think through your tion? Is there a way to pay off debt sooner? taxes before it's too late. Time is a huge factor in the equation when it comes to future success. The more you save now, the better success you will have when the time comes that you are counting on it.

9

10

Find a professional to help you oversee your financial affairs. Having a team of experts on your side can make a big difference. Someone with integrity. Someone knowledgable. Someone experienced. Someone you can trust. Someone you can talk to and learn from. We work with CPAs, Attorneys, Analysts, Insurance Companies, and Wealth Managers both locally and nationwide to bring everything to one table for our clients. You need that. Bring everything together to make one solid financial plan. CONTACT US: (772) 872-6332 Mindie@mindiemolina.com www.MindieMolina.com @MindieMolina

L I F E S T Y L E + H O M E | HOME DESIGN

Interior Design Trends for Spring/Summer 2022

Written By: Emily Iwaskewycz | Interior Designer at The Decorators Unlimited

Your home is no longer the place to store your things or crash at the end of a busy day. Instead, it is now the place to work and play. Here are my top four trends for this spring and summer:

STYLE Modern style is the trend as clients want sleek and uncluttered homes. When deciding on your color palette, keep the foundation neutral and add personality with pops of color through pillows, artwork, accessories, and area rugs.

The heart of the home, aka your kitchen, should be inviting. Having a two-toned kitchen is ontrend. I suggest incorporating different shades and textures through cabinetry, countertops, and hardware. COASTAL DRIVE | 65

LIGHTING One of the easiest ways to update your home is to change your lighting. Incorporate natural lighting as often as possible, but don’t shy away from statement fixtures. These can become the jewels of your home. From boldly designed lamps to sculptural fixtures, lighting brings personality to your space and can become a design focal point.

MATERIALS With people wanting to reconnect with nature, I am seeing a resurgence in using natural materials. Sustainable materials like marble, stone, quartzite, and hardwood restore the ambiance of the outdoors. And bring on the spaghetti sauce, muddy dog, and jumping kids. Performance fabrics make cleaning a breeze. These durable fabrics have come a long way from the microsuede days when it comes to style and functionality. So you can host book club on your white sofa while serving merlot. Wallpaper is not just for your grandma anymore. It’s a key trend for 2022. Don’t be afraid to combine dramatic patterns, layered textures, and complementary colors. 66 | SPRING/SUMMER EDITION

SPACE In 2022, four spaces that were once considered “luxury” rooms are now essential. Elevated outdoor living spaces bring calmness to your chaos. Your outdoor haven should include a refrigerator or wine cooler, grill, TV, and a firepit. In addition, I suggest for my clients’ outdoor living spaces to have motorized screens. Since driving to work is so 2019, creating a functional home office is crucial to keep you on top of your workload. Desks with doors that have pull-out shelves for printers and panels to cover wires will keep your space decluttered. And for all your Zoom calls, consider a feature wall behind you because we all know the virtual background doesn’t cut it. Whether you have an online fitness subscription or go old school, home gyms should include ample lighting, full-length mirrors, storage, and proper placement for equipment that need a power source. Finally, designate a flex space or dual-purpose room for indoor entertaining and activity because men aren’t the only ones who deserve caves. There are endless ways to customize your flex space to match your lifestyle. Maybe it’s a home theatre or game room, or perhaps you don’t have an extra room for an at-home gym or office. The versatility of this room adds value and purpose to your home.

"At the end of the day, your home should be functional for your lifestyle as well as a sanctuary to escape with family and friends." - The Decorator's Unlimited | Palm Beach Gardens COASTAL DRIVE | 67
