t started with a handful of stones. Ed was living and working in England when a business trip brought him to Connecticut. He collected a few rocks from the edge of a Stonington beach, then returned to his temporary home in Canterbury, England, and presented them to his wife, Peg. “This is from your beach!” he exclaimed. Ed had a surprise for Peg and the couple’s two teenage sons: he’d purchased a spectacular three-acre site at the head of Stonington Harbor.
