Freshwater Everglades

ay is always a good month for bass fishing and fishing for exotics in Florida. We escape the cold fronts and usually have consistent weather which is great especially for peacock bass. Those rainy days are going to be the best for snakeheads and the sunny days are good for everything else. For snakeheads I’m using an American Snakehead Customs Frog on a medium heavy setup and straight 50lb braid. I don’t use fluorocarbon; however, I use a braid knot that increases the strength of the line 400%. The knot is called a Bangkok Hooker Twist and I have a video on my YouTube channel how to tie it up. It is the go-to knot for topwater frog fishing, it even works great for bass.

The Everglades are next on my list and this time of the year can get tricky because in April we got tons of rain which can raise up the water level making the Everglades tough to fish. Jaguar cichlids have been the spotlight
