Oh Snap! Red Snapper Fishing Tournament Winners

BEACH, FL. –– July 15, 2023 –– The third annual Oh Snap! Fishing Red Snapper Fishing Tournament concluded with a multitude of local anglers participating in the one-day tournament that coincided with the NOAA Fisheries recreational Atlantic red snapper season. Participants from five counties across Northeast Florida joined their friends and families on the water to reel in the biggest Red Snapper while raising funds for K9s For Warriors.

This year’s tournament brought new winners in all three categories, crowned during the award ceremony on Saturday, July 15th. Main tournament champion, Louis and Matt Joseph from Outta Line Fishing, took home the top prize of $5,000, a large trophy and bragging rights for the year, with a snapper weighing in at 21.64 pounds. Other winners included:

First place: Louis Joseph, 21.64

Second place: Head Hunter, 20.68

Third place: Danny Patrick, 20.42

Lady Angler Category

First place: Melissa Russell, 18.04

Second place: vanessa Yakimchuk, 17.2

Third place: Kendall Lang, 16.44

Strike Zone Fishing Junior Angler Category

First place: Louie Joseph, 21.42

Second place: Brendan Nutty, 18.16

Third place: Matthew Merritt, 16.66

“We had a great turnout for our third annual tournament,” said Dave Berg, Oh Snap! Fishing Tournament Director. “It’s always a great time to see friends and family enjoying our local waters together with some friendly competition thrown in. We are thankful for all the anglers who participated and helped us make a difference in our community. We are already looking forward to next year’s competition –– we hope to see you there.”

The charitable tournament, which debuted last year in alignment with the limited recreational Atlantic red snapper fishing season, raised money for local nonprofit, K9s For Warriors.

The 4th annual tournament will be scheduled for 2 days next year on both Friday & Saturday, July XX, 2024; registration will open in February 2024 with entry fees starting at $100.
