ell! Hello again. The seasons are changing, we’re looking forward to another blast of winter weather and, as the old saying goes, “the frost is on the pumpkin”. It will soon be followed by the dreaded ice and snow and poor road conditions.

I want to remind everyone to hone their winter driving skills. Slow down and watch for wild life and winter road hazards. This is an annual learning event, so take it easy , until you’ve reacquainted yourself with the ever-changing conditions winter brings.

On to another topic: recruiting and retention.

We need to promote and retain the various careers in our industry, from the people in the offices to the, dispatchers, the warehouse, and dock workers, to the professional operators and mechanics. The best way to promote is to be proud of who we are and what we do.

Always act in a professional manner and treat each other with dignity. It would seem we are constantly defending ourselves. We do raise thousands of charity dollars from coast to coast, however that doesn’t seem to be enough.

The minute something goes wrong it appears the transport company is at fault. It’s time we stand up for our industry and take a proactive stance to let everyone know who we are and what we do. We can do this through local job fairs and trade shows. To prove my point visit with us in Abbotsford in June 2017.
