Thank you for picking up our July-August issue of Driver’s Choice Magazine. We would not exist if we were not able to be of service to you when you are looking for other employment. In the last issue I mentioned the storm warnings and snow coming every third or fourth day. Now it is approaching the end of June and we have major cities in the west being flooded out and more cities getting ready for the water to come. It has definitely been the strangest year I have ever seen. On June 15 and 16 we held out bi-annual APNA Truck Show in Abbotsford. It consists of companies promoting their products, companies recruiting for drivers and showing off what they have to offer, a truck show and shine, a motorcycle show, and a stage with entertainment going on both days. I am happy to say we had more advertisers than ever and also the crowds were unbelievable. Everyone I talked to said they would be back next time and have more to show. On another note, you may have noticed our Provincial Listings for employment. This is made to make it easier for drivers looking for work as each Province has the companies looking for work in that area. Therefore, if you live in Saskatchewan you should check out the Saskatchewan listings and if you live in Alberta you should check the listings in Alberta. This makes it easier for you to find work locally and it also keeps you from calling companies that are not looking for drivers in your Province at this time. If it is used correctly it should help both the employers and the people wanting to work. Summer is now officially here and I want to wish all of you the best. Please take time to enjoy yourself and your families and come back refreshed and ready to work.

Apna Truck Show - A Huge Success! Over 10,000 visitors enjoyed ....
The 2013 APNA Truck Show was a great success, with even more participants and exhibitors attended than expected. The Tradex Centre at Abbotsford was a flurry for the two jam-packed days. Exact numbers were not yet available at this time, but a conservative figure of around 12,000 is expected. As initially advertised, this multi-function event was first and foremost a trucking trade show which was sponsored by Trucker’s Pages, with exhibitors from various trucking related businesses. From the newest tractors and trailers to the innovations in engine and tire design, the trade show had something for all those involved in the industry. Attendees had the opportunity to meet one-on-one with industry professionals and walk away with a better understanding of products, services, and technology. Inside the Tradex, visitors also had the chance to meet and get autographs from some of the cast members of “Highway thru Hell,” a popular TV program. The show models were also kept busy with visitors snapping pictures with them. The hourly door prizes were a huge success – winners walked away with various prizes, from gift cards to high-def DVD players. The Hiring Centre which was sponsored by Driver’s Choice Magazine was flooded with inquiries from new and experienced drivers looking for work with some of the top
trucking companies in Canada. Many walked away with interview times reserved – now, that’s efficiency. Outdoor, the ever-popular Show & Shine which was sponsored by Desi Trucking Magazine was busy, with visitors being amazed by gleaming rigs, motorcycles, specialty vehicles. Winners in various categories were beaming with pride when they received their prizes and trophies. Entertainment which was sponsored by MDF Tires was nonstop during peak hours of the show, with various performances from live bands, singers, and ethnic dancers. Entertainers were more than happy with the crowds that they attracted. For the children, there were many activities that kept them, and their parents, busy. Our collaboration with the Children’s Wish Foundation was also much more successful than expected. Funds over $10,000 were raised towards granting wishes for critically ill children. Show management would like to thank all exhibitors, sponsors, volunteers, and of course, the attendees, for their participation in the 2013 APNA Truck Show. We look forward to an even bigger and more diverse show next time.

y name is Robert Casement and I am the recruiter at Titan Transport Ltd. We are based out of Saskatoon, Sask. Titan Transport pulls flatbeds, step decks, tandems and tridems Robert Casement We pull LTL loads as well as full trailer loads. A good percentage of our loads are oversize. We do not pull any dangerous goods, lumber, or crushed cars. We haul all over Canada and the continental USA. Our fleet consists of a mixture of Owner operators and company units. There is no age restrictions placed on our owner operators units. The maximum wheelbase allowed is 244 inches and all units must have Titan decals although we have no paint code. We ask all applicants to have a minimum of 2 years flatbed experience in a mixture of Canada and the USA,. before considering them. We will accept drivers with alcohol convictions but nothing in the last 5 years. We prefer if you are based in Alberta, Saskatchewan or Manitoba. I personally think that the Trucking Industry makes for a good career. The potential to earn a good living is there and you are always learning. I have driven truck for over 20 years and therefore I have a good grasp on what is required. I was both a company driver and an owner operator.
