PARTICIPATORY FACILITATION FOR COMMUNITY LEARNING AND ACTION
This course is designed for facilitators and trainers, and those who do a significant amount of facilitation in their work, who want to explore theories, principles, and practices in participatory adult education and training approaches. The course will provide the opportunity for participants to improve their skills and competencies and to implement facilitation within their community and organizational contexts. While this is an online course, it is not only about online facilitation. It is intended for, and applicable to, facilitators and trainers who facilitate in person and/or online.

Time requirement
This program is tailored to participants who have at least two (2) years of experience working in community development, and who are currently involved in facilitation and training. They should be motivated to participate actively, learn how participatory facilitation could strengthen their work and its impact, and commit to transferring their learning into action upon return. To enable optimal learning and knowledge sharing throughout the course, all participants must have a good level of spoken and written English language, reliable internet access, and a webcam.
This is a 9-week course, using StFX Online learning platform, Moodle, and Zoom live sessions. In addition to participation in live sessions on Tuesdays and Fridays (9 am to 11 am Atlantic Time), there is an expectation of two additional hours a week reading, attending online activities, and completing assignments via Moodle. There are no classes March 8 to 12, 2027. All instructional materials will be in English.

Thanks to the generous support of individual, institutional, and corporate donors, the tuition fee of $1,500 CAD has been reduced to $400 CAD plus HST. Full bursaries are available for First Nations, Métis, and Inuit community members residing in Canada, as well as individuals residing in Nova Scotia from African Nova Scotian communities and Nova Scotians of African descent.
