XERION Tractors Help Manure Professionals Increase Productivity

XERION 5000 and 4000 tractors are taking professional manure contractors to the next level – improving productivity, efficiency, and even comfort.
That’s because XERION tractors have features that are unique to the industry, including an exclusive CVT transmission that lets the tractors move as fast as 31 miles per hour on the road, while still providing excellent fuel efficiency. Four-wheel steering and a rigid, reinforced frame provide enhanced stability, and the comfort of the cab reduces operator fatigue. It all adds up.
Plus, XERION tractors are very intuitive and easy to use.

Jacob Renaud
“At the very beginning we were expecting a difficult adaptation period for our drivers on how to operate and use the new technology,” says Jacob Renaud of GT Custom Work LTD in Dunvegan ON, “but the XERION is really simple and easy to use. It took about a day for our workers to get familiar with the XERION controls and environment. Once you have spent a day in it, you are good. There is nothing else like the XERION available on the market. This is a unique machine.”
Improved productivity

Peter Gilbraith
Peter Gilbraith of Gilbraith Farm Services in St. Claude, MB, says his operation uses two 34-foot GBS manure spreaders with five-foot walls and a 50-ton capacity, and the XERION handles it with ease.
“We’re pulling double the size spreader, double the tractor, but only one man, and the fuel savings is good.” he says. “We’ve been driving this tractor for two and a half years, we got 3,500 hours on it, and we’ve had zero issues with the tractor.”

Garth Franklin
As Garth Franklin from GT Custom Work LTD in Dunvegan, Ontario puts it, “We are able to speed the process so there is room to take care of more customers. We had to adjust the price because we realized right away the tanks were far more efficient. You’re not backing into the pump asoften. You’re taking a bigger load to the field. The efficiency quotientwas really big.”

Mike Rheault
According to Mike Rheault of Assiniboine Injections LTD out of Notre Dame de Laurdes, MB, moving between jobs and even between piles within the field is much faster.
“It’s significantly quicker than a normal tractor or a normal four-wheel-drive,” Rheault explains. “We’re able to take on a couple of extra jobs a year just by having that extra efficiency on both the road and inside the field.”
Reduced fuel and labor costs
When a tractor is running eight or more hours a day, fuel economy is crucial. CLAAS POWER SYSTEMS (CPS) brings maximum power when it’s needed, along with fuel-saving technology that pays for itself.
“We’re burning about eight gallons an hour with a XERION,” says Gilbraith. “A different tractor with the same spreader would burn about 20 gallons an hour, so that’s a huge
savings.”Besides saving on fuel, XERION can actually save money by reducing the amount of labor needed to get the job done.
“Labor’s a huge problem, because before when we were running at the peak, we were running nine tanks plus three pumps,” says Franklin, “and there’s no way you can get 12 decent operators. You just can’t. With getting bigger tanks, going to six 15,000-gallon tanks, that’s the same as having nine (10,000-gallon tanks), but you don’t need three more drivers.”
Stability and comfort on the road and in the fieldThe XERION’s rigid four-wheel drive makes steering more stable for operators.
“With the four-wheel steering, the XERION allows us to access tighter yards,” says Renaud. “In addition, we don’t need to drive into the opposite road lane to turn. We are able to maintain high speed on the road - that’s a big thing for us.”

David Thiessen
David Thiessen of Wiebe Brother’s Manuring Inc adds, “The tank will not play with your steering much versus an articulating machine. It’s a narrower tractor, a heavier unit, more stable on the road because we went away from articulation. We have more speed, which we find very good.”
The XERION cab adds to the comfort and safety of the operators as well. That’s important during those long days.

“The visibility is amazing and the cab comfort is impressive,” says Renaud. “When you spend 15 hours per day in the tractor cab, you appreciate the great cab comfort. We are less tired and we can work more hours per day.”
Wiebe adds, “Cab suspension seat and handling is a lot less stressful and fatiguing on the body versus articulating on the road all day long. And our workers, our employees, they are really happy with the comfortability on these units, in the cab and on the ride. It’s doing phenomenally well.”
