A.K.A “The Physical”

All

adults need physicals

All adults, even healthy ones, should have an annual physical. On some occasions, your primary care provider (PCP) may want to see you more often.

Women may need a breast exam, pap smear, and/or pelvic exam.

Men may need a prostate exam, testicular exam, and hernia check.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

How do I schedule an annual physical?

You can call us or visit any health center to schedule your appointment. Scheduling is easy, but it is important to request the correct visit type. An annual physical/checkup takes longer and requires a bigger slot on our schedule.

How do I prepare for my exam?

You need to bring any relevant health information such as medical records and family history. If something is bothering you this is a good time to have a discussion with your PCP. You may want to write down a list of questions or concerns that you may have about your health.

Can a provider not perform this physical during another visit?

A good annual physical takes the entire visit. A major medical concern (ex. Chest pain) deserves its own separate visit to do a good job. If you have ongoing medical issues, like diabetes or high blood pressure, they are ideally addressed at a separate visit.
